Has anyone tried using RDX? Is it vaguely CTRA compatible now that the new addon channel exists?

I used RDX5 for a couple of months or so (first the leaked version, then Conquest's form of the public release). There is no compatability. RDX is a completely different suite of raiding addons, including raid windows, boss mods, debuff warnings, and the like. It's meant to be a complete replacement. |

I have the Overrated version of RDX (pretty much Conquest + a few Naxx bossmods.) Like Bregor said, it is it's own thing. It's quite an awesome addon and I really like the look of the bossmodds, as well as how they work (with the bars dropping down and all), but I ended up switching to BigWigs because it uses less memory. (I don't use CTRA anymore)

If you want Overrated's version w/boss mods you can get it here. A good primer if you're new to RDX can be found here. * Note there will be a few small differences in the tutorial as it's for Conquest's version of RDX. --

Pretty powerful tool there. Have you notice any negatives in not using CTRA while raiding Somatra? Being a raid leader Im curious what I would need to do differently without it. Do you guys know anything about BigWigs? I was looking into it a little bit and it sounded like a nice BossMod Option. I really do hate all of the boss mod spams I get from raids, when I really don't need to know a lot of them or a simple cast bar would suffice. |

Hmm, I haven't done much raid leading in awhile but the only thing I really miss are the tooltips on the raid frames. I am currently using oRA2 for CTRA functionality (MT Frames/ready checks/durability/etc, it's compatible with CTRA) sRaidframes for raid unit frames, and BigWigs for boss mods. There really isn't anything I know of that is a total package like CTRA, other than RDX, and both use a lot of memory. BigWigs is pretty cool. It took me a little while to get used to the basic timer bars it uses over the slick ones from RDX, but I have noticed that the timers are very accurate. Here are some crappy screenshots from the last few weeks showing you some of this stuff. Ouro w/RDX Razuvious w/RDX BigWigs test in IF --

Is there any benefit you get from using all of those mods together over a total package? Or do you just prefer the look or functionality of the seperate packages? Also what mod shows your trinkets being ready in a scrolling combat text way? I've been curious about that one for awhile. |

Less memory usage. With oRA, and to a lesser extent BigWigs, everything is modular and you enable only the parts that you need from the WoW addon screen. For example, with oRA I don't need the MT or Resurrection monitor modules since I am not a tank or healer. With CTRA everything is loaded and takes up memory regardless of if it's something you use or not.
Good question... uh.. lemmie find out and edit this. I don't remember. >.> Edit: Modhelm is correct, there is a "Notify when ready" option in ItemRack --

TrinketMenu also does that.

I use a custom trinket setup with flexbar so the itemrack thing would be ideal.
