FYI on Incomming "Significant" UI Mod Updates

1.12 is HUGE for UI mods, it basically eliminates the need for additional sync channels to make things work for raid and party UI Mods, instead allowing "hidden" text to the /raid channel.

However, what this means is that EVERYONE will have to upgrade their UI mods.

The following list is a few that are confirmed as NOT going to be compatable with previous versions :

Nature Enemy Cast Bar
CT_RaidAssist
KLHThreatMeter
SW Stats (eventually)

...Basically anything that used to depend on sync channels won't anymore. This also means that some kind of functionality to the following mods might be affected in the future:

SuicideKings (newer versions)
Guilded (all of them)
DamageMeters

I'll add to the list if people find other ones that are used a bunch that will be affected.

Guilded will not be affected, as the data messages implemented in 1.12 cannot be sent over chat channels - only over raid, guild and party channels.

Seeing as Guilded doesn't require you to be in a guild, raid or party with the people you use it with, it's impossible to update it to take advantage of the new data channel.

Well, I said "might" because they were also mentioning on the UI boards that "data channels" might not be supported in the future as is.

I didn't keep up on the converstation completely but there seemed to be some possibibility to the change of function to exsisting data channels in a future patch.

Thanks for the heads up, it's important to be aware of the potential impact of the patch.

Sigh, and here I was hoping they would just up the limit to like 32 channels or so.

Don't forget Damage Meters. I should probably try out SW Stats though one of these days instead.

Added DamageMeters to the "might break" list, since it has been discontinued.

I like SW stats, except for its initially less than intuitive interface and clutzy channel setup.
