For those following this thread, I walked him through the progression page change, so it's good now.

The armory links won't work anyway, so have at it. * Each named character can only have one class/race combo. If you're re-using a wow name I'd recommend leaving your class/race alone until you're actually signing up for ToR raids. You may also defer to Legolas_ToR in this case as well if you find it to me more tidy. Hit me up with whatever feedback and questions y'all care to and I'll do what I can. Happy New Year!!! Question. I wouldn't consider it unlikely that Bioware may put something similar to the armory in WoW up at some point in the future (or something similar from a third party). While I'm sure their current priority is bug fixes I can see that they'd want to compete with Bliz when it comes to additional features like that down the road. You have plans to streamline things a bit so if that does happen we wouldn't have a bunch of broken character links? I'd hate to see us in a similar situation down the road that special characters caused us. --

Well, yes and no. At first glance we decided we could make it "ToR enough" with nothing but DB additions -- just making the game look like a new tier of WoW raiding. We've added on top of that some very, very, very minor code tweaks to put some additional shine on top of it. The latter I could claim, perhaps, has 'streamlined things a bit.' Anything more than what we've done so far will probably get much dicier, very quickly. Things like fixing the armory links involves adding an actual concept of 'which game is this character for', which is a MASSIVE leap for the system. Right now such logic is being left for the long-term potential re-design effort. So in that regard we are in the unicode name situation. The site simply wasn't designed for multi-game support. I'm aware of the armory issue, and am mulling over ways that we could perhaps account for it with minor code tweaks, however band-aid-ish (or tourniquet...) they may be. It's a good example of the kind of thing we'll want brought to our attention on an ongoing basis for consideration. In fact, until your post I wasn't even sure that there was not an armory for ToR yet. Certainly should they come out with one I'll be interested in knowing. |

Healing WoW Since 2004 |
I wouldn't stress too much about what to do if/when TOR implements an armory in the current system. I suspect such a feature is still months away, meanwhile I am sure it's something the new LO system will be much better equipped to handle, when the time comes.

done, it's interesting how the additional detail in the TOR icons makes them harder to see than the wow ones

Yeah, about half of them work just fine; the light-sabre ones for example. Some are pretty rough. I'm always open to new images if people work out stuff that looks better. |

Your gonna love this Riz...I went in to slot the raid, just to see what happens... The names with spaces work just fine, the names with _ToR at the end, register an error. |

The spaces don't work fine, though, if you click on them it treats them as two separate people not as one toon, so you can't click twice to standby and when you try to save the slotting it throws a hissy fit. So... yeah. Spaces and underscores both break stuff. --

What, I was supposed to test what I was suggesting?! That's just crazy talk. Seriously though, I'm quite surprised at the underscore being an issue. |

When I get home from work tonight I'll change all names with the problem chars -- I'll simply remove the character from the name. | |

I've completed my pass at trying to get the broken names. By the way parenthesis, e.g. MyToon(TOR), are also bad. I've confirmed that dashes work. I'm updating the OP to recommend Legolas-ToR. If I missed any names or anyone isn't happy with their current name drop me a PM. |

Expediency asks the question, is it politic? Vanity asks the question, is it popular? But conscience asks the question, is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.” ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Remaining Awake Through A Great Revolution, March 31st, 1968 |
