I would imagine their will be some theorycraft inc. as soon as the set bonuses are final.. BUT .. I see FH becoming the 'new' renew for Holy Priests.

6 talent points for 3/3 Improved Renew, 3/3 Empowered Renew.

2.03*sp*1.15 is the renew 'total' besides the initial 15% from ER? So assuming 2700 SP (a 'nice' number to go with..) that's

2.03*2700*1.15 for 6303 healing with 945 'up front' healing and 1400 base healing for 8648. This is at least how I understand renew healing. Looking at one of your fights Andae for 'real' numbers.. I've got 32 renews for 266913 total healing (including empowered) for 8341 per renew.

Flash Heal.. assuming the same 2700 SP and a 25% crit rate as well as having enough haste to get you at/near GCD of 1 so flash heal is 'instant' besides the fact of not being able to be moving. This will give it and renew the same opportunity cost.

1.43*SP+2040 at 2700 is 6561 (taking holy tree into account here, since it's obvious disc will FH.) With our 25% modest holy crit rate, that's a 7381 average heal. So right now we're sitting a little lower, but havent added in the proc. Proc is 2460 every 4th FH for an addition of 615. This brings us to 7996 as our 'average' FH.

As it sits, at 2700 SP and 25% crit you are spending 6 talent points to gain a fire-and-forget, on the move, 4% healing increase. I see this as a 'play-syle' issue, not which one is better. I would have to sit down and rerun things to see how this comes out with gear scaling.. obviously crit will QUICKLY swing things in FH's favor.

Seeing how GC stated they come up with abilities first, then number, depending on where proc rate ends up.. this could be a significant increase with moderate crit levels. Need to head to work, so I'll finish some math from there. :D

In either case, the new 2 piece bonus far outweighs the previous version, in my opinion. How many times do you FH in a fight versus Guardian Spirit/Pain Supression? Personally I'll GS the tank at least once in a fight, though I tend to reserve it to the latter third due to mana being more of an issue then as well as a possible Enrage timer protection. Flah Heal though...I'll hit that at least a dozen times in a fight...though I have the Forethought Talisman (healing spell has a 25% chance of putting a 12 sec HoT on target) so I do tend to spam FH a bit more than perhaps most Priests. Still...I can see where some will not utilize the 2 set piece bonus. My top 3 spells are CoH, PoM, and GH...on average, depending on fight of course.

Oh, I'll get it, and I'll use it, but I won't change my playstyle to suit it. Unless the fight requires it.

Flash heal right now sits in my toolbox as something I fire off whenever I get an SoL proc, or if both PoM and CoH are on cooldown and I have no reason to dump a renew on anyone in the raid. I do like that it's there and that it winds up my Serendipity buff.

Vort you make interesting math points but I'm not sure I would bother with a respec. There's nothing else there that interests me. I don't need healing prayers, and while body and soul is fun it's not something I'm going to grab at the expense of renew.

I'd rather have T10 2pc that does something like what T9 4pc should have been. Give me something more like +5% to my renew instead of the meager +1.5% that I got. Or turn my greater heal into something like a glyphed holy light. Or turn the specs around just a little. What if CoH popped shields on some targets and penance got an AOE effect?

I'm still pretty 'meh' on these set bonuses. Like Andae, I'm not likely to respec for this. At most it would prompt me to put my flash heal glyph back in instead of GS (which i'm contemplating anyway).

I don't see this turning Flash into the 'new renew' I really really don't. At best, I'd try to stack the flash hot and the renew hot at the same time.

I find myself renewing a lot, regardless of my healing roll (raid vs MT), If nothing else, currently operating tanks always have a Renew rolling on them if I have spare GCD. Does it overheal? sure, but it's fire and forget, and it might help, especially if empowered lands properly, which it usually does.

The other thing to remember about this bonus on flash is that it's anti-synergy to SoL. SoL flash cannot crit.

Going to look at this more in depth.. but would a focus on the 2pc and not caring about the 4pc make some of the more interesting hybrid specs universally viable? IE in ToC there are specs that work great on Twins, but fail on Anub... etc etc...

maybe it's time to look at something crazy with FH crits and swearing off renew entirely? Will look at this more later! :D

I have a friend who has already done that. He objected to empowered renew on principle because it was weaker than a renew tick.

Hmm...I have Improved Renew, but then I also have the Glyph of Renew, so I get more bang for my mana buck. Only bad thing is that the Renew doesn't last as long and I actually spend more mana in a fight reapplying Renew on people. *shrug*

You know...I still need to dual spec, so I may take the opportunity to also respec my Holy...I've got points in places it doesn't quite make sense to have anymore, like Silent Resolve. Really...when was the last time any Priests pulled aggro off the tank? But I refuse to give up my Lightwell. :D

As soon as I'm on a non-websensed computer (grrr) I'll make up a spec that I've been thinking about.. given new t10 it works.. and I agree 100% that lightwell is both amazing and underused-it'll be in that spec. It's deeper in Holy with some nice Disc talents.. and going to see what a non-penance Disc spec could do if you focused on 2pc, not 4 :D

One great application I've seen of lightwell... ToC 25 the two tanks that don't have gormok go sit by it and click it.. makes healing a LOT easier.

Lightwell would be great if it worked like the lightwells cast by the priests in Trial of the Champion (5-man)... if you haven't notice them they fire off little sparks that heal anything around them.

I haven't used lightwell for a long time, and even in TBC when I did cast it (prior to going CoH spec back when I was the only person with Divine Spirit in my raids) it was only to levitate and dance naked atop for boss kill screenshots.

Honestly Anderson I think that's how it will work in 4.0. They have talked some about reworking the talent trees and dropping things that just increase hit or increase dmg and replacing them w/'fun' talents. I'd think a revamp on Lightwell to make it a bit smarter would be pretty awesome.

Thanks Roberth,

T6 is still far and away my favorite set look, followed by T5. I did like the mask look of T8 but neither T9 or T10 look very interesting or new.

Back on subject... they changed the 2 piece set bonus on the PTR to remove the crit dependency, which helps out holy priests like me who are mainly casting flash heal through Surge of Light procs.

Lead for Clothing Optional. Chances are still good that I don't know what I'm talking about.

4 piece bonus. When you cast Circle of Healing or Penance, you sometimes get a buff called "Flash Heal!"

This is pretty fun if you can get something to notify you that it's happened. I've got it doing something similar to the Surge of Light proc alert. Sometimes I have both, so that I can toss a Circle of Healing, an instant Flash Heal, then a 2nd Circle of Healing.

Yea, I use power auras to show me when COH is off CD and when I have a surge of light proc. I'm gonna skip on getting 4p t10 though.
