Not my fault that i'm Dutch |
^ And back to the taunt a pooch question. Don't forget you have 2 abilities to gain aggro. First should definatly be taunt, but your arms talents provide another 2nd one in case your other tank has gone hog wild on aggro. I have had that moments with Toragan *shakes fist* |

Which leads to my next question.. as im in mostly blues and no epics yet, it shouldn't be a huge issue if someone in TOC/ICC gear who is fury pulls all the agro on some boss fights? Twas also in SSC, but was frustating as hell to constantly loose agro on bosses...converly the person is geared in mostly tier 9.25-10 gear. --

For those I usually say this: "If you wanna tank it, be my guest." =p. They die, they blame you, your response, "If you are in T9.5, etc gear, you should know not to pass the tanks aggro, no?" and so on haha. well they'll argue and all that stuff...ah...the life that which is a tank... --

haha yeah cuch that happens, no biggie :) My motto: You spank, You tank :) and i remember one thing i had Gerad say in a heroic run to someone who stole aggro continously of me: " That aggro thing, how's that working for you now ?" I still use that when dps is going to eager and get themselves killed a couple of things. Then they will argue, tank laughs, next pull :) |

Happens to me with Eaton all the time - especially if Kav is bringing one of his high-geared characters. And, I've been guilty on it WITH Eaton as well. Warriors can only do so much AoE - if the fury warrior hits his "SPINNING BIRD KICK!" button before I get my thunderclap+Shockwave off? Yeah - he's eating all the adds. Nothing I can do about it - period. Also, you will find that some melee classes in 9.5 and up will simply be doing SO much damn dps you cannot possibly do anything other than have mocking blow ready. As I often tell guildies "Dudes, if you are HEALING? I will taunt off you - if you are pulling so much agro that Jesus himself in teir 9 couldn't keep the target? You better put on some +sta gear, cause your tanking it, sparky!" This is why Kav has a hybrid set of loot just for this occasion. --

Sometimes a little message at the start of the run puts everyone on the same page. "Hi everyone, although I am entirely capable of tanking this instance I am not uber-geared yet. Please watch your threat." |

I'll be honest, nobody cares in the 80s either. A few weeks ago, we had a new guildie join up. The guy is a good friend and kin to the Maxus of doom. He transferred over a level 80 character from his other server - a pally that was doing high level hardcore guild raiding. TOTALLY blinged out in TOP of the line gear. We all traipse off to Forge of Souls. I'm tanking on Eaton (who ain't in but a few pieces outta Ulduar10 and Naxx gear), and the others in the group have a badge piece of loot here or there. We are quite capable of doing the instance - but we aren't overgearing it by any stretch of the imagination. This guy? TOTALLY overgeared :) We ask if he's been in here before, he says many, many times on the other server with his guildies. We get to the first boss (the guy that does the little soul rip outta ya thing). As he calls for the first soul rip - he hits the pally. The guy doesn't move. He stays right in melee with the boss, so needless to say the soul goes right to the boss - boss heals. Over vent, I say "Uh, dude. You need to move when he does that." Second time? He hits the same guy again... this time I pull the boss AWAY from him... the guy chases me. I call out "HEY, stop. Kill that purple thing coming out of you before it hits the boss, man" He immediately does. After the fight, he says "What was that purple thing?" Because he had basically steamrolled that fight with his ubergeared guildies - he had NO idea what the actual mechanic for the fight WAS. We told him, and we all laughed about it for an hour. As he put it - they had DPSed the guy so fast - they always got to the 50% mark before he had a chance to cast it. This guy isn't a moron - he knows his stuff. BUT, because his normal running crew wasn't used to paying no attention to basically...well, any of the "stay on target" "kill marked target" "use CC" - he totally had no idea what he needed to do when he WASN'T with an overgeared crew. Think how many people were led through low level instances with high level friends - how many people NEVER learned how to properly do some fights? THIS isn't a good teaching tool... at all... And that little problem strikes a LOT of DPS. :) --

Hehe. Funnily enough, I ran that on an alt once and had the same kind of thing happen. The "WTF is that purple thing, why is he healing?" Someone explained it to me and I was ooooh. Cos same thing, usually I take it on my rogue or hunter and they are more or less ToC25 geared and he never got to a transition before :D --
