Did anyone witness the initial invasion? I missed it and the 'invasion' at SW Harbor is completely underwhelming. Did I miss the super awesomeness or was it just a big floppy... noodle.

Big floppy noodle. You can thank the whiners from the zombie invasion for that, I'm sure. --

Horde side seemed a little more involved, what with the whole Thrall/Hellscream thing. It was cool for the event that I was at in SW simply because it was impressive to see so many players lined up in semi-formation, and the Templares especially. The event itself was a single frame per second of WTF IS HAPPENING for me, but I'm glad I didn't miss it.

Northrend, one zone at a time. |
I thought it was fantastic. Sure, it was a lag fest, but there are few things in-game that will match up to defending massive SW Harbor from waves of the undead. The Org. version, however, is a lot cooler, because it's more involved with NPCs that have been around a while--Wrynn, remember, is still a new NPC, as far as his current iteration goes. He doesn't pack quite the same punch and draw as Thrall and Garrosh do. Plus the event in Org. is totally setting up Garrosh as the next Lich King. --

The one thing I wish I was able to see for the Stormwind event was Broll and Valeera fighting with King Varian. I know they were at the event, but it seemed like they were just sitting around waiting for something to happen. | |

Firs thing I did was hop on the Paladin. /blowkiss @ Valeera Sanguinar Popped my wings, jumped off one of the ledges in SW harbor, tossed my shield and an exo at a frost wrym and killed a couple aboms. It was a grand and epic adventure. --

I did get to see Wrynn kick the everloving CRAP out of some aboms. I roll up to one to go give it the smack down and it dies nearly instantaneously. Took me a second to watch the recrowned King of Stormwind go off to continue pouring out his recently opened can of whoopass. Didn't get a good look at any of the other NPCs though. I have seen the text about the confrontation between Thrall and Garrosh, and I'm not particularly happy with that. Granted, we're talking about the orcs, but Garrosh seems like just the sort of foolhardy punk to get the Horde obliterated again, and Blizzard actually let him BEAT Thrall?! Bleh. Of course, if they're trying to fire up the war between the Alliance and Horde again, Garrosh would be the perfect guy to have in charge. Thrall has a brain in his head. Garrosh, now that he's not depressed by his father's failings, seems to be turning into exactly the kind of arrogant bastage who would make the same mistakes. Ah well. I'm not Horde anyway. --

Horde side seemed more interesting - I logged into one of my Horde characters on another server in the Hunter training area and was witness to an invasion of frost wyrms, abominations, and seeing Hellscream run around yellow but not attackable. Oh how my trigger finger itched. Anyway, there was also Sylvanas striding around look all hot and sexy...and undead, one-shotting mobs. Alliance side, there's the King in the throne room and there he is in SW Harbor...and I rode there on a very fast mount. Does he have some sort of gnomish teleportation device? /boggle. And the overall Scourge attack was kinda...lame, though it felt like some last-ditch effort by Arthas. As if since the zombie invasion didn't work like he intended he's sending some heavy hitters to try and knock off the ruling elite, but yet still failing. Guess we'll see what happens soonish. I was under the impression that both SW and Ogr get razed... |
