We have a bunch of people who have spent plenty of time in the beta banging around on the new zones. In TBC there were several factions that the smart play was to farm some items or a low level instance before starting quests for that faction, so as to maximize total rep gain (and minimize running steamvaults, shattered halls or the damned shadow labs eternally) Are there any faction tendencies like that thus far in WotLK? Any "run ramps or BF until honored before you start questing HH rep" or "farm unidentified plant parts or arakkoa feathers before CE or LC quests"? I never got Lower City very high on my main and honor hold was a pain for similar reasons, would like to avoid that if it's practical. Gief clooz! |

While not applicable to all factions, and new system involving tabards is being introduced, called Championing. Essentially by wearing the tabard of a faction, you will earn rep with them regardless of what dungeon you happen to be fighting in. So you can now instance, anywhere you like and still work on the desired faction you want to raise.

Interesting... But I hate tabards, they need to put in an option to turn them off, or fix the animation on robe wearers. :( --

You will notice that these faction tabards are available at the tabard vendors now.

Further, note that factions that are on the Championing system allow you to get the tabard at Friendly. So they basically removed the old "kill first, quest later" mode of thinking. They WANT you questing and wearing the tabard basically triples your honor gained (at least in heroics, as I recall) so there's really no conflict. Just go game.

I don't believe it will be necessary to avoid rep-based quests. Championing a rep in an 80 instance (specifically COT Strath, Utgarde Pinnacle, The Occulus, and the Halls of Lightning), doing a normal dungeon daily quest (one of the four above, rewarding 250 rep with the faction of your choice) and daily quests will carry you. I've only found one repeatable quest that's worth rep, and the turn-ins are BoP drops. The Champion Tabards are not available on tabard vendors yet. Tabard vendors (by the Visitor's Centers, in any capital city) will sell every BC rep-based tabard, though. And as far as looks, you'll only have to wear them inside the instance for the benefit. A little bit of style for a short time is a small sacrifice for that Exalted ring, isn't it? :) |

Level ?? |
Ok, nub question: so assuming that dungeons give faction rep, same as BC, and you wear a championing tabard while in that dungeon for a separate faction, do you earn rep for both at once? That's what I get the impression of, but just trying to sort it all out :)

Dungeons do not have an assigned faction to them. Without championing (or instance quests, of course), a dungeon isn't worth rep on its own.

Aha, gotcha, thanks :) *wanders off to find out answers to more nub LK questions on random forums*

how many bag/bank spaces should I have reserved for all these tabards?
| Banquo | #342073 Tuesday November 11, 2008 at 18:00 | |
CUSTOM TITLES WOO. |
There are only four championing factions, tabard vendors are supposed to sell you any tabards you've gained access to in the past (like the illidari/heroic protector tabards) theoretically you could never waste bag space on a tabard again, and just wear the one you want rep from. Additionally, there are rep-rewarding daily quests for varied factions that you'll be able to do while leveling. --
In order to have your lifetime honorable kills displayed, you must have at least 1337 honorable kills. |

One bag space, at a time. Pick which of the four you want to raise first, wear their tabard until you're done, and then vendor it and pick a new one.
