Cause I am lazy, Troll. :) That macro grew over time as issues were discussed at EJ and TKA related to hunter performance. At one point I was activating my Berserker's call trinket in there too but moved that to my BW macro so that it would go off with BW. The modifiers should probably be on both. But the position before and after, as I noted previously, was purely based on anecdotal evidence about what seems to maximize DPS for the pet. I should probably go review the EJ and TKA threads again sometime soon and see what additional comments I can find. This stuff is going to change for a bit, then become irrelevant as we start to level, then change a few more times at level 80 as we optimize and theorycraft then. --

Well it's been a couple weeks since the patch. Anyone have any breakthroughs on shot macros? I'm still using Sorron's .. #showtooltip Steady Shot /console Sound_EnableSFX 0 /cast !Auto Shot /cast [target=pettarget, exists] Kill Command /cast Steady Shot /cast [target=pettarget, exists] Rabid /console Sound_EnableSFX 1 /script UIErrorsFrame:Clear() .. and it seems to be working fine. I did try another I found on the Hunting Lodge forums. It combined two macros and was something like ... Macro 1 #showtooltip Steady Shot /console Sound_EnableSFX 0 /cast !Auto Shot /click [target=pettatget, exists] ActionButton11 /cast Steady Shot /console Sound_EnableSFX 1 /script UIErrorsFrame:Clear() Macro 2 #showtooltip Kill Command /cast [target=pettatget, exists] Kill Command /cast [target=pettatget, exists] Rabid The original post also had Bite and Monstrous Bite in macro 2, but I took them out and just keep 'em on autocast. I didn't do any extensive testing comparing this to Sorron's, but it didn't feel like there was any significant dps difference. I've also heard of people not putting auto shot into their macros, saying that forcing an auto shot with a macro can actually clip a steady shot. Anyone can confirm or contradict this? --

Quite frankly I had problems using the macro with /cast !Auto Shot in it. As soon as I took that out my dps went up. Who knows. I'm still playing though. | |

Yeah, I took out the auto shot part and some other minor stuff and did pretty well. Sorronn, no Longevity? 3/3 Cobra Strikes? You shouldn't need that much in CS if you're over 30% crit, right? |

You shouldn't need that much in CS if you're over 30% crit, right? I wasn't 30% crit when I took the talents. Only after I got enough T6 gear to warrant the switch did I swap to T6 pieces, which put me at about 32% crit. Before I had been just short of 26%. And I didn't switch because until I had enough T6 level gear (not just T6 set pieces), the T5 4 piece bonus gave me a slight DPS edge. Once I went to 4/4 on T6 plus a few more T6 level pieces in other slots, it made sense to make the switch. If I was doing the talents now I'd go 2/3 probably. But I'd have to spreadsheet it to be sure. Longevity is proving to be a mana loser for damage gained last I checked at EJ, which I admit was a few weeks ago. You'd be better off with talents points elsewhere if you're after pure damage. If this has changed, feel free to let me know. As I said, I haven't been following it closely the last couple weeks. I've been steadily sitting in the top 3-4 amongst AP's damage dealers, occasionally taking #1 on some boss fights (but usually a bit behind Cloudy). I am not at all dissatisfied with my DPS at this stage and not really worried about further optimizing it considering we're easily killing everything up through Eredar Twins and Muru dies this Friday (30% last week). I feel like we (AP) even has a shot at Kiljaeden on Saturday if everything comes together. So the DPS has been more than adequate so far (mine and everyone else for that matter). --

Wow, no need to be so defensive, I'm sure you do wonderful dps 0-o I was just asking what your reasoning was (in the interest of sharing knowledge), not criticizing you. |

It doesn't make sense to me, given that BW + pet specials = a lot of our dps and mana regen tends to be very high lately... Can you link me to the EJ post that stated that? I'd like to see the math behind it, if possible. |

Defensive?? What was defensive about my post? I'm not upset at all so if I miscommunicated here, please feel free to point it out. My post was an explanation because I felt your question warranted a detailed answer. The crit difference was due to the gear changeout, which I wanted to explain, which in turn affects Cobra Strikes. :) My comments about Longevity are, as I noted, based on prior EJ comments but things may have changed. My closing paragraph was simply me noting that at this point in BC raiding I didn't feel there was much more to be gained. Certainly at level 80 we'll all want to theorycraft and test extensively again!! :) --

Remember that I setup my talents and macro back on October 16th and haven't re-examined them since. The EJ Hunter Beastmastery Bible 3.0 thread does suggest that some things have changed and that more change as of today. I highly recommend reading it. This thread started on October 21st, so I didn't have access to that when I set Sorronn up. All told though he's been in pretty good shape thus far for talents. I may redo though once I see more info on this patch's impact. Note though that while he points to a 3/3 Longevity build initially, he admits himself he's running 3/3 Cobra Strikes with great success in current raids. And I fully expect all of us to discover boatloads of new things by the time we are 80 and ready to raid again. --

Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm running a 3/3 longevity and 1/3 cobra strikes now, and am doing quite well dps-wise as well. I don't have the extra points to put into CS, but I'll probably max it out as I level. |
