Started in 98 I beleive, its funny that you bring this up, becasue as most of you know, and for those that dont, I just moved. I was going through my old boxes and I found a zip drive.... Yes a 100mb zip drive, and It has old EQ screenshots, Had me laughing my ass off, Ill share when I am off work. EverQuest (EQ)(about 7 years off and on) Dark Ages of Camelot (DAoC) EVE (beta only) EQ2 - Juggled this and WoW and CoH for a good while. Age of Conan (AoC) Anarchy Online (beta only) City of Heroes City of Villains Vanguard Matrix Online (beta only) Planetside (I miss this game so much) Star Wars Galaxies (beta and about 6 months into until they ruined the whole thing, left for WoW) Lineage 2 (Beta only) Guildwars And I am sure they is more, I just can't think of them off the top of my head. --

Depends on what you term MMO but... Diablo (had a guild of 20 or so I gamed with) Ultima Online (around 2 years) Everquest (Shy of 3 years) World of Warcraft (since release) Planetside (about a year strong) Star Wars Galaxies (short run) Anarchy Online (beta) City of Heroes/Villains (off and on for 2 years and still going) EVE (Awesome game, but too much time investment. 3 months) Earth and Beyond (2 Months) Jumpgate(Beta) D&D Online (Beta) Asheron's Call 2 (short run) Diablo 2 (off and on and still play) Dark Age of Camelot (beta) Everquest2 (couple of months) Neverwinter Nights (Persistant Worlds mainly, off and on since release. Still check out servers on occasion) Guildwars (about 3 months strong and off and on since) Hellgate (off and on since release and still play) --

Played Diablo, a pseudo-MMO, which got me into Ultima Online. Played UO from shortly after launch (fall of '97) and been hooked ever since. So... Ultima Online (10/10/97) Everquest Asheron's Call (beta only) Anarchy Online Dark Age of Camelot (from early beta on - a Mythic dev was in my EQ guild :) (Had a kid, insert a few years of RL here) Star Wars Galaxies (from mid-beta until the NGE gutted the game... FU SOE) Shadowcove (a heavy-RP UO emulator server) EVE Online WoW which gives me a /played time of 10 years, 10 months, 9 days. Holy cow. Out of that list, my favorites were UO and SWG. I much prefer skill-based games to level-based ones because of the near infinite ways to customize a character and the way the players drive the economy more than the game design does (playing the game economy is way more fun to me than fighting, and I've been a full time crafter in every game that had that as a viable profession). However, I also love WoW because it is just so damned well implemented. It's like they took every level-based game that came before it, threw out the stuff that didn't work, and perfected the stuff that did. Interestingly, many of the people I met back in UO in '97 - Sorronn, Telumehtar, Menereg, Arramen, Althes, Ornalis, Kyilen, Pwyll, Brygitte - are my guildmates in WoW. MMO's for me have been as rich a social experience as any face to face friendships. --

Star Wars Galaxies -- summer it came out, stopped when school started again. City of Heroes -- from open beta until school began again City of Villains -- from release for a few months (renewed both of these for a couple months last fall, then stopped again) WoW -- since Jan. 2005, with a few significant breaks (probably aabout 3 years total subscribed) LotR:O -- a few months when it first released, then again for a month when I took my most recent WoW break. --
