When I looked at WAU today, the newest updated mod listed was 4 days ago, so it would appear the the updater is gone. I've installed and am testing the Curse client, to see how that works, and I'm sure this is simply the first time run that's causing the delay, but it's sure taking it's sweet time in 'Processing new addons'. I downloaded and installed 1.0.4.0, and it auto updated itself to 1.0.4.3, which was nice. (don't simply download the 1.0.4.3 exe file, you'll be missing bitmaps and the like). I'm crossing my fingers, and hoping that I can again easily update my mods. What have you folks been doing, and have you had any experiences with the Curse client that might help others out? --

Makes the rockin' world go round |
I used the WAU yesterday and got a bunch of updates, but it had been a few days (I only update before raids). If there are indeed no new updates, I might just cross my fingers and stop updating until something no longer works. Haven't tried out the Curse client. I've been hearing less than stellar things about it, including that using it automatically installs a data mining program which sends all the stuff you do in WoW back to Curse's site wowdb.com, which skeeves me out. Whether I end up installing it probably depends on whether it allows "updating without externals" (i.e. shared libraries) as the WAU did. I have Ace mods almost exclusively because of the efficiency of the shared libraries, but if this is no longer possible to do automatically, I might as well skip the updaters and just go back to dropping things into my addons folder manually. |

Just updated now without issues (Had updated last night). From the note over on http://www.wowace.com it would appear that the updater will continue to work until the launch of a new (apparently better) curse client in August. We should see some sort of formal announcement when things officially shut down/turn over.

The WAU software is working fine, but I'm not seeing any files with a Change Date of less than 4 days old, which is what concerns me. WHen you load up the software, and look at the packages, are you seeing updates newer than 4 days old? --

*shrug* I use WoWMatrix. I know some people don't like that updater because it parses websites without author's permission...but there you go. | |

I use WoW Matrix as well, works well for updating addons, but if you use it to install some addons you might be missing parts of them. (I tried that with atlas loot on my lap top, got the interface but no loot)

Given that seemingly every single hack ever comes from Curse Gaming, I view their installer program as something akin to a dirty needle handed to me by a diseased hobo. I think I'll switch to WoWMatrix when the time comes. |

I'll keep using AceUpdater until I can't. Then I'll go back to manually managing my add ons. I don't trust Curse.
