From a healing perspective, I MUCH enjoyed the Kael fight. Healing as a shaman, I have to stand and cast and Kael is open to this. Vash, on the other hand, doesn't like people just standing around.

As far as enjoyment... I love the Kael fight most. As far as difficulty... Kael :P It was no surprise that once a charter has Kael on relative-farm *cough* that HS/BT is CAKE :P

I think Kael just feels harder than Illidan because of its point in progression, and because of its (intended) function as a gate to BT / Hyjal. Kael was also a gear check for its point in progression (enough dps to get the weapons / advisors / shock barrier / eggs down fast), but Illidan isn't really (beyond appropriate resist gear on the tanks). Illidan does require more raid co-ordination than Kael tho. And you can finesse Kael with better gear, which isn't really an option on Illidan (a screw up on flames etc will wipe you every time for example). Once you can co-ordinate a repeatable Kael kill, you are 90% of the way to co-ordinating a repeatable Illidan kill - it's a great training fight for the end of T6 content.

I pretty much agree with what has been said before - Kael is harder to learn, easier to repeat. Vashj requires more raid agility - people need to be flexible to pick up the Naga / striders that spawn in random locations, and manage the core tossing quickly and effectively.

kael is NOT harder than illy. Have any of you that are saying that actually killed illidian? jumping jesus.

Kael is easily the harder of the two, just due to the complexity of the dance you need to do.

Yes, I've been killing Illidan for a while now. I figured you'd have known that :p, since last I saw your priest is in the same guild I am.

And for me, Illidan is much easier than Kael'thas was.

The spacial awareness is definitely much simpler. The healing is harder in Illidan because there are more instances of AOE. But it seems like both have similar spike damage at least for the tanks. Tanks have the increased difficulty of movement and blocking the shear.

So it is "harder" but it still doesn't feel harder.

The other thing was that when I was doing Kael'thas I was on a computer that wouldn't render the flamestrike on the ground. Meaning that I would have to remember where I had seen the flamestrike go off earlier. I can see all the avoidable AOE on Illidan.

Kael'thas requires pretty well the majority of the raid to do their job well and near flawlessly.

Illidan requires less coordingation from as many people. It's easier to cover somebody's screwup on Illidan than it is to cover someone elses screw up on say Kael'thas.

And yes, I've done both fights in multiple roles (Warrior Tank on a couple Kael kills, Paladin tank on a coule Kael kills, Paladin healer on I think 1 kill, warlock tank/DPS on multiple kills), (Warlock SR tank for Illidan, Warrior Flame Tank).

The wrong way to do situps
I would guess a lot depends on your role in each fight. I always remember Vashj being a tiring fight, but then in my group i was on cleanup. So i was always running around clearing elemental spawn that got past the stair dps, especially when stair x got a tainted, dpsing the strider (and making sure not to aggro them, its hard to keep track how much dps time the kiter had on each one and i am a aggrokin after all), doting the melee naga, helping to pass up the tainted cores as needed, etc. It is also an unforgiving fight, you loose a couple people and you can't keep up on whatever they are doing. Then the last phase is a pure race to finish Vashj off before the entire platform is green goo

Kael in many ways is easier imo. The key is to have enough DPS to take down the weapons in P2 fast and to switch to gazing\slow chase guy fast so you kill him (for a second time) before he picks the wrong person to chase (ex locktank or lock's healers) and wipes the raid. After that the rest of the council go down easy and P4\5 are easy once you see them. Lastly, once the gazing dude is down you can loose several peeps and still have no problem finishing the fight.

So in closing, the hardest fight is:

C'Thun!!!

Probably the coolest boss fight ever.
