Ready for Winter |
quote: Originally posted by Amirite: Yeah, what's up with that? I've heard about it but haven't seen a blue post on it... In wrath they're changing the threat mechanics. And so, they're making it so that salv is a hand spell that has a 2 minute cooldown but takes 2% of your threat off every second for 10 seconds. This as opposed to the flat 30% threat reduction mechanic as it currently stands. It looks like the changes will make it easier for the tanks to maintain threat over a dpser/healer. But the new hand spell would make it easy to keep people from pulling aggro. However... those new mechanics are not yet in place. So I don't understand why it is that people are trying to work in them now rather than after. --

Hmm. I guess we'll see. It looks like the dps classes got a lot of added dps abilities as well to add onto the TPS burden of the tanks, even with new tank abilities... I wonder if changing the salv mechanic is such a hot idea before they get the new DPS/TPS stuff balanced? |

YOU'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME FRUIT VENDOR! |
Looks like they're actually splitting it down the middle. DPS will generate about 15% less threat than normal and tanks will generate about 15% more threat than normal in Wrath, meaning it's not something that really needs to be balanced. And look at it this way. Even if Feint isn't doing the job for you, there's always Vanish. At least you're not one of those poor aggromonkey Warlocks. :) |

this is it for a winner! |
I don't forsee a huge problem with rogues in WLK in PvE. The biggest thing that got rogues for BC was a) cleaves and b) poorly scaling damage. Both of these things were solved, and rogues are sitting very comfortably as top damage in most raid boss fights. In WLK, I don't think that's going to change. Many other classes are going to get some nice damage boosts... but the top competition for DPS meters -- mages, warlocks, and hunters -- aren't getting huge boosts in their raid DPS trees. Most of the classes that are getting significant DPS increases are the ones who need it -- Ret paladins, for example, are trading a lot of unique raid buffing for more DPS. Rogues aren't getting a whole lot of powerful new abilities. You might be using the same buttons as you are now, and that you have been since release. But, you won't be relegated to a crap class. You'll have more tools for situations, like Fan of Knives for some AOE damage. You'll get a lot of neat new PvP toys to counter all of the other classes' new PvP abilities. I don't know how good Murder Spree will be in practice, but hey, you can always pick up hemo, right? |
