shield block has been drastically changed as a result of the decision devs seem to be looking to make. They want to remove crushing blows. "Shield Block: Increases your chance to block and the amount blocked by 100% for 5 sec, but will only block 1 attack. 30 sec cooldown." Is the new version. --

The one line that stood out to me was about mocking blow. I understand the cool down reduction, the previous cool down was so bad I never took it out of my spell book. But making it usable in defensive stance seems a little overkill. I still would prefer to use my taunt (if i was still prot spec). I would have preferred to see it added to fury stance, there are times when I need to pull a single mob off a healer but all that is available is the AOE taunt. If I'm too close to other mobs when I use that you got one dead little gnome warrior. |

Mocking blow's primary usage for me was always as backup if taunt failed and I needed the mob off its target NOW. Having it usable in defensive means I don't have to stance dance if taunt falls down for some reason. Good boost IMO :)

Aye, just means you don't have to blow all your rage and switch stances for your backup taunt. Didn't make sense to use in battle stance except in an emergency, and then the next thing you'd do is switch to def stance anyhow. --

It seems like they're trying to compensate warriors for their lack of ability to effectively aoe tank by adding more taunt options. - Vigilance, refreshing the normal taunt constantly. - Mocking blow vastly reduced c/d and usable in Def Stance - Chall Shout c/d reduced to 3 minutes (long overdue) It'll be very interesting to see how this all pans out. I have yet to see anything that will make me be anything but useless in a 5 man against a giant pack of non-elites, at least compared to a pally. Shockwave might help a bit to start. Beyond that, all I can see is using vigilance on the warlock and then setting up some macro to taunt anything that damages him. I'll freely admit that if that works as described above, it would actually be really cool, and a nice alternative to the pally way of dealing with big packs. But I just have trouble visualizing it actually working well... --

Threat will scale with AP now, much moreso than it has before. This is good news for the warriors struggling to keep up with badge and T6 geared DPS.

I'll have to see this in action before I can really make any kind of decision on how valuable it'll be. I mean it's a good power, I sure won't turn it down, but whether it'll make warriors viable aoe tankers.... eh, I'm not convinced of that. --

We'll certainly be better off but I'll need to play before I'm convinced I can 'effectively' tank more than three in a good group. I don't think we'll ever quite be paladin style. Fortunately I'm perfectly okay with that. --

I believe that Tclap is going to be scaling with AP now as well, which may very well help a LOT against a 3-4 mob pull.

Unless there is a change to threat generation, damage usually has little to do with it. It'll help sure, but not greatly. Still, I'm not terribly worried about our AoE tanking ability. We do fairly well with multi mobs and with some CC there usually isn't too much to worry about. And with Shamans and Paladins seemingly getting a little something in that area(though I need to reread Hex) it comes over to a buff to our tanking. --

Hrm, I admit I'm a little confused about this mechanic change. To me AP scaling is pretty underwhelming for protection warriors given their normally low AP with the current gear itemization. Who knows though, maybe tanking gear will have some AP in wrath rather than stamina, defense, and more stamina. |

Its more that AP counts for so few of our moves. Devastate (at 1/4 AP) and white damage. Revenge is static. Shield Slam is based on Block (and something like 1/14th str). --
