More DPS than your raid combined! |

I'm not sure if you're looking for bar placement savers or ability placement savers. |

I used to be MM forever, and swore by it. But yeah, nerfing has made it just unfeasable for raiding, and I have a hard enough time getting my hunter (my 'main') into raids.

I wasn't adding in the pet difference, guys :) That is where my number vs. your numbers are coming from. Dashing through it again (since I improved a few things over the weekend) - I get these numbers using the highest dps shot rotation for each spec (buffed only by TS and Hawk): Me: MM= 734.35 (OOM in 118.02) BM= 745.66 (OOM in 101.53) Pet: MM= 124.66 BM= 196.13 Totals = MM 859.01 BM - 941.79 So, going BM makes my overall DPS go up about 91 if my pet is alive. My personal DPS, less than 10. I could probably improve the pet dps drastically by putting up my cat and getting a ravager. That would probably increase DPS another 10-30 in BM if done right - but only about 10 in MM. Still, considering I don't have time to raid 25mans more than once every month or so... *sigh* I just can't bring myself to change out for a daily basis. I farm with Quin, spend time running KZ with my guild (where I stay on the top of the DPS meters)... I know I should change for maximum DPS - but, I just can't bring myself to get rid of two very useful shots that I use every day - for 100dps that is majority my pet. I love Quimbly - he's a good kitty. Maybe for him.... --

Uh... my BM vs MM difference was pretty dramatic. I was doing 800ish as MM but jumped lots closer to 1000 when I switched. And it's grown with gear. Now I'll do 1400-1800 DPS against Gorefiend and Shade of Akama (both fairly squishy targets) and 1100-1400 against Naj'entus and Supremus. In Hyjal I get 1200-1500 against Rage, Anetheron, and Azgalor. Kaz'rogal is usually 800-1000 as I try to conserve mana to avoid the low mana/blowup issue. :) When we were in KZ/T4 starting T4 25 man content, I struggled to keep up with Erywin (SV) and Cloudy (MM) but anymore I'm usually leading the hunter pack and the 2 or 3 hunters are usually in the top 5 for total DPS. In fact, usually we are #2, #3, and #4 (and actually very close anyway)... damn Osamu. :P T5 gear (2 pc bonus!!) is a huge boon to BM hunters and Hyjal gear is too. --

Well, Sorr - do remember, I'm showing numbers unbuffed. I figure you hit me with the right combo of buffs and spellups and foods - and the numbers will change and the distance between the two will grow. Actually - let me run that real quick.... Kings+AB+Druidw/Pack+Food+2Elixers = MM: 964.75 - Me=814.27 and Pet=150.48 - OOM in 139.51 BM: 1070.28 - Me=797.56 (LESS) Pet=272.71 - OOM 133.33 Interesting... Quin looses DPS, but my pet gains it in abundance. Wow. Thats just screwy right there :D Hurm, maybe I should be asking the really important question then - Do you guys have as much trouble keeping your pet alive as I do? Poor guy can't even get away from Aran in time to prevent dying to an arcane explosion :( If I could rely on his survival - I might not worry about the change as much. --

Yeh I have trouble keeping my pet up, and it especially sucks b/c it looks like I'm skipping t5 in favor of badge gear and hyjal/BT gears, so I don't have that two set bonus to look forward to :( | |

I could never keep my pet alive on Aran when he missiled the poor guy. In the case of the Arcane Explosion, I think you can get rid of the slowing debuff with Improved Mend Pet ticks and Avoidance (which is a must for training) should cut the damage in half even if he does get hit. Then again, my memory could be fuzzy because it's been a long time since I did the Shade. Anyway, keeping your pet alive is a function of being comfortable with the fights and knowing about looking out for damage. Having 2 pieces of T5 helps out a ton, but knowing when to call your pet back in and not being stingy with mend pet should keep him alive in most situations. |

There are very few fights these days where my pet fails to survive (like Archimonde) and in those fights I just park him at my side so I can bestial wrath anyway. I cannot over emphasize how wonderful the 2 piece T5 bonus really is. When you are doing 1200-1500 damage per second, that turn into 180-225 health right back at your pet per second in addition to throwing a HOT on the pet now and then. Also Avoidance 2 is absolutely mandatory for pet survival to bosses. Finally, my pet has Rank 3 or Rank 4 in every resist. I'd prefer Rank 4 in all but don't quite have enough training points for the cat. If there is any way at all you can get into SSC and/or TK, do so. The T5 gloves, legs, and shoulders are really not hard to get and are great items in themselves anyway. And all you really need are 2 of those 3 pieces to get the bonus. I swear I will be wearing 2 pieces of T5 at level 80, unless something drastic changes along the way. :P --

It seems logical to me that they might put a similar hunter talent in the Beastmaster tree. Then again Blizzard has a really high innate resistance to logic at times. So eh, we'll see. Edit: Looked it up, the 2pt. warlock talent is called Fel Synergy and requires 35 points in Demonology: "Your demons share an additional 5/10% of your Armor, Intellect, and Stamina, and you have a 50/100% chance to heal your pet for 15% of the damage done by you." |

the 2p tier 5 is awesome, and wonderful, and gets the shit kicked out of it by 4piece tier 6. (3/4 currently, waiting to kill illidian for the chest - t6 helm sucks)
