Are there any MM hunters left or have we been nerfed so badly that everyone has gone to BM? I remember a time when MM hunters rocked. Now with attack speed increases i'm thinking of respecing. I've been a MM hunter forever but i continually see BM hunters out DPSing me, even though they have lesser gear. I hate the thought of respecing but if that's what it takes I guess I'll do it. ;-(

Generally the specs are seen as such MM: Arena PvP SV: Raid Buffer (only 1 per raid!) BM: PvE DPS If you try to fit MM into the PvE DPS role, you'll probably be disappointed. Sure, you could do decent DPS, but it would probably be worse than you'd do with a similar amount of effort and BM. I know it might be tough to see MM as only the arena drain/control PvP spec, but that's all it's the best at these days. |

I don't think anyone can put it more clearly than you just listed it out. I was MM for the longest time. But all signs from PvE point to being BM and when I switched over my dps output went up. I couldn't argue with the stats. I have slso wanted to try SV out, but the other hunter I typically role with fills that "one per raid role". Until something changes, MM has basically been shelved for Arena only IMO. Not worth the constant respeccing for ordinary BGs. Happy Hunting :) |

I think that BM is just as good in BGs, if not better. It's fun to pop TBW and RF, then mow down the three closest enemies within a few seconds. |

Not my fault that i'm Dutch |
I honostly do not care for BGs. I am still MM. I refuse to give it up, mostly because everyone else went BM :)

I'm still MM - and there are two reasons why. 1. I like silencing shot. Yes, I know it doesn't work on raid bosses, and it isn't the best thing out there for dps by a long damn shot... but I don't have the opportunity to raid higher than SSC right now - and shooting that damn spell shade in the face so he stops casting and hits my trap makes me happy. I just use it too much to give it up. 2. Scatter shot. Hell, I used it last time I was in Gruul's to stop a early released puppy from heading to his warlock. That one well timed shot let the warlock get the spell off. Yes, it is situational, but... I like it, and can't imagine life without it. I have done the numbers in Cheeky's sheets - I'd gain about 30dps if I switched specs to BM. No other alteration but that. However, I've NEVER been anything but MM. I'm used to it. *sigh* I won't admit I haven't wondered though. The past few weeks I've honestly contemplated it. But, until I get slotted more than "Once a blue moon" for serious raids? I just can't make the switch. --

I know Cloudy in AP is still MM and I am pretty sure he would delete his character before speccing anything other than MM. They are out there, just harder to find. Cheers, E --

Sad truth generally is, once you do try BM in a raid situation, your dps should increase so much that you probably will actually be slotted more than once in a blue moon. |

Checking a current copy of cheeky's it's over 100 unbuffed dps switching your spec & shot rotation from a typical MM rotation to 3:2. Your time until OOM also goes up an extra 6 seconds which isn't huge but beats the heck out of zero. Raid buffs, and I picked what I get in 25 mans here on my hunter so your mileage may vary, it's a difference of nearly 200DPS and OOM doesn't happen for 400 more seconds. That doesn't mean you should change but if simply respeccing nets you that kind of DPS in raids and you WANT to raid, then you should consider it. If you don't want to raid then it hardly matters what spec you run :) |

But on my warrior I'm all Arms spec'ing goodness and I understand full well to be more of a contribution to a raid it would take a respec. But your above line says it all. If you hate the idea of a respect don't do it, do what you enjoy. Yes you may get slotted less, but if MM is THE pvp spec then get into pvp. I found learning to love the role of the spec I love is easier and more respecing to something I don't love. Not to say you won't change and find you like it just as much. But if you love something why give it up? Ok that was long winded :) |

Another thing to consider and that has been mentioned in other threads, nobody needs to be pigeonholed as a MM BM hybrid or survival hunter anymore. Gearwise I've found alot of my MM/BM gear work well with either spec, and my survival set has just kinda built itself up incidentally (not a major difference like from dps to healie or something). With gold as easy as it is to acquire my biggest problem is changing around my macro's and action bar buttons to suit my spec. On that note, does anyone know of a way to save different configurations of action bars? would be handy as I tend to respec at least 4 times a week for different roles. |

Some of the bar mods may allow saving "profiles" that you can save and then load on demand. Other mods do it so I don't know why a bar mod would not. However, I am not aware of any bar mod that does this. You may have to do some research.
