OK, so I posted something similar on the Blizz Shaman forums, but didn't get much help there (hoping some different, more helpful people read these instead). So, I finally accepted that leather is not a bad thing and I actually went ahead and picked up http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34928. I ran Yo's sim for 100k hours and then entered the info into Loot Rank: http://www.lootrank.com/wow/rank.asp?Cla=64&s7=1&s8=4&Art=0&s1=1&s2=4&Slot=0&i2=1&s3=1&s4=4&Max=10&i8=1&s5=1&s6=4&Gem=3&i3=1&j5=1&n1=1&i4=1&j6=1&i5=1&k3=1&i6=1&j3=1&Str=2.2&Arm=0&Exp=3.913&dps=9&mp5=0&Sta=0&Def=0&mcr=2.66&odps=3.7&heal=0&Agi=2.58&Dod=0&mhit=2.25&ddps=9&spc=0&Int=0&blv=0&map=1&hdps=3.7&sph=0&Spi=0&blr=0&rap=0&rdps=0&spd=0&par=0&fap=0&msp=0&fid=0&Sckm=50&res=0&arp=0.28&osp=0&frd=0&mh=2.12&rsp=0&ard=0&axb=0&nad=0&bob=0&shd=0&gub=0&has=0&mab=0&spp=0&swb=0&Ver=4 Here's my problem, even though I'm inclined to trust the results that Loot Rank has provided me, it seems like their selections are based solely on crit. All of their gems choices are crit gems. That conflicts with EJ's information which tells you that you should always gem for strength. So I'm thinking that if I actually gemmed for strength instead of crit, then some of the items that Loot Rank provides actually lose their value. Is there something I can do that's more in line with EJ, or is it a negligible enough amount of difference that I should go with the gear that Loot Rank suggests and just use strength gems instead. If you want to see what I'm wearing, here is my armory profile: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Silver+Hand&n=Giliath --

Alright. My area of expertise is in Elemental, but I'll try to help out with some math cause I'm in the mood for theorycrafting. I'm assuming you're still using blue gems and not the epic variety. I believe a good portion of the disparity may come from going from blue to epic gems, but lets see. Since I don't know the math equivalents for enhance, I'm gonna leave blanks for you to fill out and we can have discussion on math! :D +8 str gems VS +8 crit gems +8 str = 16 ap, modified by kings = 8.8str = 17.6 ap. +8 crit rating = .18% chance to crit, NOT MODIFIED by kings. +10 str = +20ap, modified by kings = 11str = 22 ap. +10 crit rating= .225 chance to crit, NOT MOD'D by kings. That would by my guess. That epic gems in large quantities (Probably 5-6 or more) Scale better with kings and other similar boosts then straight crit rating do. So, straight up. If you're raiding and will always have kings, STR will probably serve you better simply because it scales better with raid buffs. However. Once again, this is me doing math for fun and my main numbers MAY be completely wrong, if it is I apologize. The best thing I can suggest is tally up all your gemslots, figure out what each gem does for your dps, and do the math. :D Hope this helped ! ~Glacial --

Well, despite what Loot Rank told me to do, I went ahead and put strength gems in the new leather pants I bought (I'm using blue gems, not purples). I guess my main question though is, should I use the gear suggestions from Loot Rank and just throw strength gems in there or is anyone aware of a site that will give me results more in line with the EJ information?

I'm not entirely sure what information EJ provides for Enhancement, but I know that, for Resto, they have formulas you can use to evaluate gear based on what content you are raiding. I have created my own gear spreadsheets using their T5 and T6 formulas to rank gear and determine which items are the best upgrades for any given slot. Okay, I found it: http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t24525-enhancement_-_ep_discussion/ If and when you get ambitious, you can plug those formulas into a spreadsheet of all the potential gear. --

enhancement shaman...something I know quite well ( even tho Inca is resto , she is my 3rd shaman ) You should not get hit rating above str never. I strongly suggest that you: Change all yellow slot gems to the +4str +4crit gems Change all red slot gems to +8str Change all blue slot gems for the +str and +stam gems. (Agi gives you same amount of %crit than crit rating when you are under blessing of kings) (1 str gives you 2 attackpower and every 5 str gives you 1 more attackpower cause of blessing of kings) And change the boots enchant to cat's grace, you will need to move a lot in many encounters and the move speed bonus really gives you more seconds you spend in dps rather than running. You should never take hit rating above attackpower, having 125 hit rating is more than enough. (Why you ask ?) Enh Shaman dps is: 50% white hits 30% Wf 10% Ss 10% shocks Hit rating affects only 50% of our dmg since wf and ss are both capped trough talents. Attackpower affects 100% of our dmg, since mental quickness change. Crit affects 90% of our dmg, though taking crit over attackpower is not that great unless you get it cheaply. Socket bonuses should only be aimed for if they give: Str, crit, agi, attackpower or hit. All other stats like stam, int or dodge should be brutaly ignored and just fill them with +8str gems. Also get the badge totem, the one that has chance to give you attackpower after you shock a target, it will give attackpower to 100% of our dps. ......................... Should you have any questions feel free to hit me up in email, message or ingame. --

I don't socket for hit, I've just managed to get 144 from gear. All of my gems are the ones that you listed and the only time I break away from the +8 strength is to make sure I meet the requirements for the Meta Socket. I already have the badge totem and I will look into that enchant. I believe you were talking about Cat's Swiftness which give you +6 agility and slight move speed increase. Thanx for your help. --
