Rawrrawrrawr! Now that we have that out of the way, I just thought that I should poke my head in here to say hi. I transfered over here from Scarlet Crusade to meet up with the Wanderlust folks. I have extensive experience healing pre-BC and I've cleared Kara a time or two as a Moonkin. However, I'm now aiming to gear up for cat DPS and then slowly accumulate a tanking set. Any input y'all would have in helping me set this up would be greatly appreciated. |

A good reference for overall class mechanics is the forum thread on Elitist Jerks: http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t16902-feral_druid_megathread/ This will guide on what sort of gear you are looking for in both tanking and dps gear. Other things you may want to look at is the crafted boe epics from LW, the Belt of Deep Shadow is a good dps belt, Bet of Natural Power is second best tanking belt, only behind the new T6 belt. Another way to improve tanking gear is by pvping and arena. The gear available through that will help you get into a lot of T4 raids, and beginning T5 content while gathering your T4 set. For playing around with different gear sets, Rawr is a nice little utility: http://druid.wikispaces.com/Rawr |

So, in reading over some of the EJ stuff, I ran across the powershifting macro thread. Since my main is a BM hunter, this seems like a natural fit for me. Does anyone have experience with powershifting or these macros that would be willing to give me some pointers? Planned Macros: Shred replacement: code: #showtooltip Shred
/run if pwx then local f="Cat Form";f=GetSpellCooldown(f)>0 or UnitMana('player')>pws or not IsUsableSpell(f) or CancelPlayerBuff(f) end
/cast [form] Shred
/stopmacro [form]
/cast Cat FormToggle Macro: code: /run local c=DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME if pwx then pwx=false c:AddMessage("Powershift disabled",1,1,1) else pwx=true pws=14 c:AddMessage("Powershift enabled, 14 energy threshold",1,1,1)endThis shoud powershift whenever I try to shred and have less than pws energy (which I have set to 14). I'll need to play around with the number a bit so that I'm not running oom, but it should at least be interesting to mess around with. The toggle macro will allow me to turn powershifting on and off with the click of a button. |

Ok, first thing you need to know is that rawr basically keeps cat and bear as totally separate models, so you'll have to muddle a little bit when you're using the same piece for both sets (which is common with early T4 and arena gear). Models you can swap between in the models menu. If you're just interested in what upgrades you can get for what slots, you just choose the "load from armory" from the file menu, and punch in your charname and server (you did log out in bear or cat gear didn't you?). Now when you click on a piece of eq on the paper doll it will give you upgrade options with gemmings in a hovering window. Or you can go to the comparisons window and click the eq slot and look at the full range of gear and see where your equipped gear falls in the rankings. Now in the comparison window you'll see an empty diamond to the left of the piece of eq's name. If you have that piece available to you click on it, it'll fill in green. That piece of gear is now available to the optimizer. Now go through every slot and gem you have available in both the cat and bear models and click on pieces you have. You have to go through both models because some gear you may own only shows up in one model. Now go to the file menu and hit save (I set mine up as Jheusse full gear set for example). You also can fiddle with the buffs and enchants tabs in the paper doll to the left to see how your expected stats will change. Now under the tools menu is a selection called optimize, which will basically run through just about every combination of your gear you have clicked as available. In the cat model you can generally get by with just letting it optimize overall rating, since overall rating=dps rating for the cat model. For bear you'll add a parameter or two, like < 0% chance to be crit (you can adjust boss level in another tab too btw), minimum avoidance rating, and sometimes minimum health. Using 'All Gemmings' will use only the gems you have selected as availab.e Push optimize. Wait. Marvel at the result. The 'Build Upgrade List' in the optimize tool takes a long time to run but will give you a ranking of the potential upgrades you may be considering, to help you prioritize. If you do a search in either the Feral megathread at EJ or the Rawr model thread for username Jheusse, you can see some of the questions I've put out there. then just tinker and explore, you can load items from the Armory if you get the Item ID from wowhead, you can edit gemmings to reflect your exact gemming. And keep checking back to the Rawr thread, they're bringing out updates on a regular basis, I'm hoping for the flag for a piece of eq "lock gemming" so it doesn't recommend constantly changing gems for pieces I don't want to re-gem. I gained ~150 theoretical dps when I put the cat gear optimizer to work, dropping 4t4 to wear Grips of Deftness for the expertise and similar. Also helped me pick up some easy improvements with some cheap gem improvements. |

Go up to the Model menu and switch to Cat model, then run optimizer and/or the upgrade search. Like I said, it separates the cat and bear models pretty completely. |

So, if anyone's curious, I liked the performance of the macro quite a bit in the run I went on last week. It only left me out of kitten form once (and that's because Anetheron somehow slept me in the fraction of a second I was shifted, grrrr....). Anyway, I've got a WWS report for anyone who is interested in seeing my results for some of that run. From the Magtheridon parse, I think the energy gains of powershifting with that macro are on the order of having 2pc T4 (couldn't compare before hand because I picked up the 2pc in Gruul's). |
