Has anyone here tried to level as a Holy/Disc Spec in the last little while? I've had a bit of an itch.

I can't remember what I did out of BC for leveling, but I know that I leveled from 60-70 holy/dis. There are some decent talents you can get to up your dps with smite and holy fire, while still getting some of the good healing talents so you can heal in 5 mans if you want. My experience with it was that it took a little longer to kill things, but I didn't have a problem finding groups and doing the quests. | |

Mae leveled 1-70 as holy/disc, with no damage enhancing talents. It's quite doable if you try to stay just ahead of the quest level curve and avoid multiples. Holy priests can put out some impressive dps; we just completely blow our wad doing so and have to drink often. If you take some non-healy talents like wand spec, Spirit Tap, and the smitey stuff, leveling should be even easier while still remaining a viable healer, before raid level at least. That being said, Mae was my first character. At this point, having leveled Grae as shadow, I might be too spoiled to put up with the relative inefficiency of holy leveling. --

I leveled Challice as mostly disc, and I was able to heal just fine through it. Disc provides a nice mix, IMO. Reflective Shield was actually really nice for leveling... I really miss it.

I leveled Roberth as Holy with some Disc...the Disc came much later though (wand spec was around level 15-20 I think). Its a bear leveling nearly pure Holy...but well-timed Fears are your friend. Shield, wait 5, Holy Fire, SW:P, Smite, Fear, Shield, rinse and repeat as needed. I could even handle two (!!!) mobs at once. Man did I die alot... --

I lvl'd mostly holy some disc. Grouping is the way to go but I actually surprised myself with how fast I can kill some stuff, holy priests are no where near as bad as say a holy pally or prot pally grinding it out. I killed most mobs in about 3-4 casts. Still kill mobs in about 3-4 casts. Not elite mind you. |

I am about 1 point different between holy/disc so yeah thats how i lvled fel. Had a blast! With well timed fears, heals, dots, shields you can do 3 maybe 4 mobs at once depending on the lvl but you will have no mana at the end.
