Different gear levels will favor different builds. Make sure that you are updating the buffs to reflect a typical raid situation for you. Grabbing every buff that you can possible get to see the largest number won't necessarily give you a true reflection of your maximum DPS potential. If you are mainly doing 10-mans without Kings, or an Enhancement shammy do not include their buffs. It may not be the largest number, but it will be the best model of reality which is what we are after. If you are doing 5 and 10 mans, (my image of your description of not having much raid gear yet) I can't imagine that tri-spec would be your highest DPS spec, but the numbers do not lie and I may be wrong considering I haven't personally seen how having more rupture-able boss mobs has affected tri-spec at different gear levels. |

Oh yeah, I went through and pulled all the buffs, put in my default foods and pots/flasks, etc. Even pulled out Might, since I usually end with Kings and Salv (we've got two or three each of Prot, Holy, and Ret pallies in guild, so we very rarely have less than 2 pallies along), so that's pretty accurate. Same with boss debuffs. Sometimes, I wonder if the setup for Hemo debuff is a bit skewed, because Combat's below both. I even went in and just grabbed the Sample T5 gearing setup and adjusted the specific talent builds. Hemo/CP came back at 1226 DPS, Cookie-cutter 19/42 Combat Swords came in at 1231 DPS, and Hemo Swords comes in at 1261. That's more than a bit startling to me, after all the theorycrafting that's been done stating 19/42 is king. EDIT: Not much raid gear means "I've got 5 other 70s that get to see more raid time than my rogue" mostly. I've got Primalstrike Bracers and Belt, and Worgen Claw Necklace, but beyond that, not a lot. Rest of it's all blues except for the S1 Sword in MH. (Got Latro's offhand.) |

this is it for a winner! |
Hemo assumes that every charge is being used to boost raid DPS. When your gear is on the low end, it's better to buff the raid than increase your own stats. By the time your gear gets better, T5+, the loss of personal DPS by speccing Hemo isn't worth it.

Okay, yes, but is the spreadsheet actually calculating it that way or no? If yes, is it adding increased phantom Raid DPS to your personal DPS in the ratings? Because the spreadsheet is telling me my DPS is what's higher with Hemo Swords.

The Elitist Jerks forum spreadsheets factor in an estimated raid dps boost to the Hemo numbers being reported, yes. It thus generally doesn't make sense to have more than one Hemo rogue in a given raid, unless they're at the VERY top end of gear where Com/Sub finally passes Ass/Com for personal dps. I'm not even to that point quite yet (though I'm close--my dps with Com/Sub atm is BARELY under my dps with Ass/Com).
