Hi everyone! I'm not only new to LO, but somewhat new to being the healer. I currently play a 68 Paladin that until very recently served as a Ret/Prot (with a dash of Holy seasoning) DPS... thing. I made the switch to Holy at 60 and have absolutely loved the healing aspect much more than the, "Go in and help slaughter!" one. I'm no where near raid material yet (can we say slowly weaning myself off the 5-mans?), though happily enough the only 5-man I've had any problems with was the Crypts and wishing for about the tenth time that I could -- just once! -- heal multiple people at one time. Cest le vie. So, pretty much any advice and things to start preparing for with a raid as a healer? |

First of all, welcome to the community :) Secondly, I can't speak on being a holy pally directly, however, I might be able to offer a few suggestions on raid healing! The first one is to bring mats for your group spells! Bring more than you think you'll ever need. All too often people will think they "have enough for a 5 hour raid" and end up falling dreadfully short. Second, as a pally, you should really consider downloading Pally Power. It's an amazing little mod that helps you (and the raid) keep track of and manage buffs. Of course it's not a required mod for all charters but not having it will open you up to being heckled on an hourly basis (HIARTALIS!). Third, pay attention to your assignments and never EVER be afraid of asking questions. We've all been new... some more new than others :P We know how confusing things can be in the beginning. It's better that you hold the raid up a few minutes than cause a wipe because you didn't want clarification on something. Lastly, a lesson learned this weekend, never EVER randomly BOP your MT. :P *ducks* Hope that helps a little! We have several amazing holy pallies and a few that are healing leads/charter leads. I'm sure you'll find a great amount of information personalized to your class/role. :) Again, welcome to the community! :) --

Don't talk to Theris Toragan Rhaze Pantzeri or any other paladin in the /leftovers channel. They are the worst kind of undeserving filth ever. Especially Theris. Paladins make me sick, er those paladins. Well maybe not Tora when he actually wears plate. Oh oops welcome. If you need some healing advice Chrystllyn is a really good one to go to, Toragan is prot now but he knows healing very well as well. There are more... |

The not so serious paladin |
Yep download pally power. You'll make the other paladins in your raid cry if you don't have it. As far as healing advice for a pally. This is a good thread to read up on. You'll basically want to work on getting some good blues before you raid heal KZ. Some paladins will downgrade to mail/leather/cloth if needed.*cough* http://leftoversraiding.org/index.php/topic/25391 --

Thanks for the great advice so far. I'm definitely going to check out the Paladin mod and play with it while taking some guildmates through a few of the lower level dungeons. (I have found those are the best practice places since, well, I'd have to be a real idiot for them to die in anything pre BRD.) Right now I'm mostly wearing cloth. I've taken a substantial hit on my HP and armor, but with only two blues (both of which are healing plate) and the rest being green cloth, I'm sitting at a pretty decent +982 healing. Tribal, in reference to randomly casting BOP on the MT... *grin* I made that mistake very early on when I ended up healing when I was suppose to be dps for Ulda. Ah, that was fun. |

He who holds the big stick of boss-ouchy |
Welcome to the community! I know that the healing multiple people aspect is one of the hardest for a pally... they are just designed for healing one person. Try to save your holy shock for spot healing if you can... beyond that you just have to try to squeeze in a flash of light here and there.

Ever felt like you in a game of whack-a-mole. Yeah, I get that OUCH! feeling. It's like you keep OUCH! getting hit with OUCH! hammers! |
