New Badge Fists vs. Sword spec

Ok here goes my question... I <3 sword spec but the new badge fists grabbed my attention, and I was wondering if any of you knew if the 44 haste would make them better than swords, after I finish my easy upgrades I will be sitting at 100 haste I think so 144 with the fist weps.

Note: if you armory me as soon as a Talon of Azshara drops I should be getting it.

So fist weps with 144 haste rating vs 100 haste with sword spec...

Any help or opinions would be much help thank you :)

The fist mainhand is quite competitive, and you don't have to wait for it to drop. If you don't already have Talon or Infamy, I'd certainly recommend picking it up and going Fist/Sword spec. I haven't run the spreadsheet to see whether the fist or one of the swords is better, mind you--it isn't as good as Rod of the Sun King, which is only beat out by the Warglaive, and that's good enough for me atm. =)

Don't bother with the offhand, though. It is not enough of an increase in dps to make up for the loss of sword spec procs (offhand procs extra mainhand hit), assuming you're using a relatively easy-to-obtain S2 offhand sword or better.

I haven't pvp'd much at all with the rogue yet so I have Quickening Blade of the Prince as my OH atm, and I was actually looking into a fist/sword spec earlier this evening :) even the MH would be nice for a lil haste and dps boost

No matter how you slice it, it ends up being 5% crit or chance to get an extra swing, and the actual dps (given equal ilevel weapons) is so nearly the same that you won't notice it.

That being said, the weapons have different stats which will affect your dps based on your existing stats... so your best bet is to plug it all into the spreadsheet and see what works best for you.

The fist wep was a 1% dps increase for me, but so was blade of infamy (4% unbuffed, 1% buffed).

I decided to spend my badges on the ring and armor instead.

100% agreed on the other things you should DEFINITELY get. The ring is one of the best rings in the game, period (I bought and enchanted mine, won't replace it unless I get the Illidan ring or the Twin Eredars ring), the crossbow is best in ranged slot until Sunwell loot, the pants are better than T6 if you're not breaking a T6 slot bonus, etc. Unless you have badges coming out your ears, I'd suggest getting these other items first. And I do recommend getting the S2 swords--grab a buddy or two and form a noncompetitive Arena team for points. Even losing 10 games a week will get you your swords eventually (and quite possibly before you ever see one drop in raids--whee for RNG loot tables!). =P

Tanked Vael for 10% without evasion.
According to numerous spreadsheets, 2x badge fist is more dps than badge fist/s2 sword.

Ya know, Starlear, I realized when I read your post that I'd only run stuff using my Rod and build, so I ran some comparisons between offhand fist + mainhand fist and offhand S2 sword + mainhand fist with standard combat builds. In these cases, it looks like the offhand fist does indeed provide a little under 8 dps boost (not counting lost windfury procs if such can proc off an extra mainhand attack from sword spec--I don't currently have windfury in my spreadsheet).

Interestingly, using fist or fist+sword variations of my build, mh fist + S2 sword does beat dual fist by a little under 6 dps. Rod+sword still beats out both of these combos, of course (as well as Rod+fist).

The belt is very nice, and it actually ends up working out as only a little behind belt of 100 deaths dps-wise. I am probably going to get the belt second (got the ring right away) just as a boost to ap/hit/sta. Since belt of deep shadow is rather poor in the blue stat department to make the sockets rather attractive to fill.

I agree with you on the others though definitely.

I haven't looked at the weapons much at all, since the daggers/fists don't appeal.

I'm definately grabbing the new pants next week once I have enough badges. They are about a 20 DPS increase over T5. Plus I planned on replacing T6 legs with the Sunwell pants so the only chance I may actually need the T6 legs is if a bunch of chest or glove patterns start miraculously(sp) dropping and I get the chance to replace one of those pieces before I get any of the new Sunwell pieces.

The ring is a minimal (~5 DPS) upgrage for me, so next Im finally going to upgrade my boots. Although Shaz is a whore, she definately hasn't been putting out for me. In the future I'd rather have the Shaz boots over Tabi since hit is more than available on T6 and sunwell loot, but I've got to ditch the Hyjal ones I have now. But they match, so that's gotta be worth something... Right??
