I have a quick question, because I'm honestly curious about something. Gyrik picked up a Spiteblade from Netherspite awhile back (it is happy); previously Gy had been all daggers all the time, but all the current math says that's silly, SO I dropped Mongoose on the sword and switched specs. However, I had no banked OH sword, and so Gy is currently using the Spiteblade in his mainhaind, and the Merciless Gladiator's Shiv (I tink it's Shiv. The 1.5 speed offhand, anyway) in his offhand. Is there a problem with using a good MH sword and a lightning fast OH dagger? Should I be looking to replace the dagger with a sword from somewheres? --

You'll do more dps with a fast sword offhand. If you go a hybrid hemo build for raid utility, it won't matter, but your personal dps will take a hit. --

It's certainly possible to mix weapons, although swords are typically the standard offhand in a mixed weapon build because offhand sword spec procs a mainhand hit (there's no particular advantage to having anything else in the offhand in a mixed setup). That said, a superior weapon speed can overcome the advantages of sword spec at times, depending on what you have available to you. I used the 1.3 speed Badge dagger for some time until the Arena offhand swords came out, as the increase in dps and decrease in speed made it slightly superior to Latro's offhand sword. There are zero advantages to offhanding the Shiv instead of the Quickblade, however, so I would recommend getting the S2 offhand sword as soon as possible (or S3, if you're serious enough about PvP to get an 1850 rating). You currently won't find a better offhand for a Combat build until Black Temple or Sunwell. |

Alrighty. Gyrik's been mostly shelved for the time being, but if I ever pick him back up seriously, I'll look into a good OH sword.
