Greetings, The first part of this post will be written outside any FAQ being written. It’s posted with the assumption that most people don’t need the question answered, “What is an add-on?” or “What is threat?” Furthermore, I’ll only be discussing general add-ons, here. Class specific add-ons will be on the article en-follow-up. Thanks for reading and please feel free to follow-up with hints, suggestions, corrections, rants, or raves. Leftover’s doesn’t *require* the addition of add-ons for raids, however, you may find that some Charters *will* require either a specific add-on or some practical substitution. As you read that, keep this is mind! These are not requirements, merely a source of recommendation. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Ace (http://wowace.com/wiki/Main_Page) , among other reasons, because it has an “auto-updater” that automatically updates all installed add-ons. This is usually very handy on Patch Day. A stronger reason, alas, is that Ace has proven to be one of the more reliable places to get *safe* add-ons. For these reasons, Ace add-ons will be given special notice when alternatives are available. -- Strong Recommendations There are generally only two add-ons that are requested at Leftovers.
Moderate Recommendations These mods will help you or the raid as a whole depending on who’s using them. For instance, an add-on like oRA2 – as a raid leader – will help *any* raider using oRA2 or CT Raid Assist. Using this add-on as just another member of the raid will allow you to see special messages and windows from other players in your group; Main Tank Windows, for example, that are set by raid leaders and assistants.
Other Recommendations Please see the follow-up post! -- If you have any questions about the functionality of these add-ons, please let me know. In an attempt to keep the post concise and easy to read, I've left out the "What function does this addon have that makes it so worthwhile" commentary. Good luck! --

Each of these mods are absolutely not required for raiding. They are, however, recommended by your fellow Leftovers Community members. Whatsmore, while not required, they are sure to have a positive impact on your class and raid-role. I must reiterate, however, that they are NOT required. Tank Recommendations
Healer Recommendations
Melee/Ranged Recommendations Caster Recommendations
Miscellaneous Role Recommendations These are mods that are *role* recommendations that couldn't be fit anywhere else. PallyPower, for instances, is strongly recommended for raiding Paladins as one of their roles is to appropriately buff raid members.
Special Notes If you see an asterisk ( * ), look here!
-- Dear Readers, Please post your your stand-alone, role-specific addons. UI Packages and general add-ons will be ignored (such as SpartanUI or Fubar). When mentioning an add-on, please provide a safe-as-possible link to the add-on. That is, if the add-on has an actual site (Such as CT Raid Assist, does), please use that link. Otherwise, please provide a link that you've actually used with success. Lastly, please provide a Blurb about the addon. The blurb should be short and explain why you use the addon. There are multiple examples up, now, so you can see how it all works! This page cannot exist without your help and contributions. Please feel free to post suggestions for improvements, rants, raves, or recommendations! Good luck! --

I'm thinking of switching over to oRA from CT but I read it does not come with raid frames. Is this true, and if so what do you use for frames? Keep the CT frames or is there something you like better? Any use, besides wasting memory :), to run them both?

I still use CTRaid myself though ;) All of those are hell to set up, though decent once you're done :) |

Not so much for actual in combat persay, but TankPoints and RatingBuster are good addons for folks to have to help min/max their gear outfits. Tankpoints is especially nive for the various breakdowns and calculations which can work with lvl 73 bosses to help determine mitigation/avoidance. http://files.wowace.com/TankPoints/ http://files.wowace.com/RatingBuster/ Quartz is also an excellent mod for casters of any sort, designed to help minimize the impact of lag on chain casting. http://files.wowace.com/Quartz/ |

It does come with MT Windows, Res monitor, Cooldown Monitor, etc. I *really* like the Cooldown monitor. It lets me know who's cooldowns are ... well, down. So during a raid, I can easily see which druid, for instance, has already used their battle res and exactly how long until they can use it again. The MT windows let me see, not only who the MTs are and thus who I should make sure I'm in range of, but it shows me their target (when I'm DPSing) and that targets target. The latter allows me to know who I should be focused on in cases of OOPSES. :P For your other question, I use Healbot for my raid frames. It serves the same purpose as the one in CT raid, but the added bonus that I can heal, too. Self contained and wotnot. :P HTH :) --

More DPS than your raid combined! |

It's easy to configure. It doesn't have a lot of bells & whistles like Quartz, I prefer something really lightweight when it comes to casting bars and this fits the bill. |

I use Grid for my raid frames. Small compact, and very informative if you set it up to do so (and Clique to click heal, but there are other mods that do that). The combination allows me to function with very little mouse movement. It's nice. |

I know you prefer healbot, but there are a lot of healers, myself included, who wouldn't have it if you paid them. So please list Grid in your "recommended healer mods" as it is highly recommended by many LO healers. I also recommend using it with clique, though many find that interface awkward. (Helps if you have a 5 button mouse like I do.) Thank you. --

I, too, have a five button mouse; but, actually only use two of them for my healing: right for LHW, ctrl+right for chain 4, shift+right for chain 5 and left for Decursive's macro. I use XPerl, Decursive and Clique...I love it. I hate and despise Healbot. Not quite sure I could give you a specific reason for the dislike; but, second on the list of dislikes is Grid. So many swear by it. I much prefer XPerl's interface (once it's setup). Then again, I prefer Linux over Windows, too. Maybe I'm just a masochist at heart. My center button is used for buffing and talking on vent, and my other two are totem buttons (grounding and poison cleansing). --

Some of us have more than 2 healing spells silly shammy! *ducks* I actively use 5 healing spells, PwS, dispell magic and cure disease. I just work harder than you. *ducks again* kiss kiss *grin* --

(Helps if you have a 5 button mouse like I do.) Thank you. Yup! I prefer it, despite its failings, for 2 reasons. 1, it's a very complex design. It takes a long while to understand what's really going on with the addon. I've heard this complaint from a lot of people that have been wanting to switch FROM healbot (such as myself). The second reason is the sheer number of mods you need to DL with it. Grid is an Add-on *package*, really. Certainly, Grid itself is nothing more than a raid frame. Its vast functionality, however, comes from a bunch of tiny mods you need to DL with it. Healbot, while it DOES have failings, is a single addon with low overhead and it's *very* easy to understand. Having said all that in the spirit of healthy debate, this is not *my* page! No one ever asks if something can be added. If you use it, it's important! :) I know a number of people who absolutely swear by Grid-and-clique. It's all about personal preference! Clique shall be added now. :) I will add it as soon as I find a viable link. Grid itself is just a raid frame. If anyone can provide a link to the package (it's Ace!) please post! I'd like it up as soon as possible :) Thank you! PS: I also can't seem to find xperl. Can someone provide a link, please? :) --

this is it for a winner! |
PallyPower. This addon makes synchronizing an entire raid's worth of blessings trivial, and allows one-click blessing for every assignment within. I cannot recommend this add-on enough to every raiding paladin.

Also, Pally Power Info is a small plugin that lets other raid members know which paladin is in charge of which blessing. --

I swear by grid. Absolutely love it. Clique right now, has me pissed off enough i'm ready to dump it. I tried setting up, using it's custom macros functionality macros for some of my healing spells so that it would use my trinkets if their cooldown was up. This broke my healing enough that I had to target then heal. It made it unworkable. Yes, I admit that I suck at using my trinkets, and was going to macro their use. I apparently can't do this with Clique. |
