Burn or Heal?
Nightbane: I like prayer of mending on this fight. Drop it on the tank just as Nightbane is about to land and then fade. FADE FADE FADE. Sometimes, though, the best tank will not be able to catch him before he eats someone, no matter aggro dumps.

I really push the use of fade in Kara, especially on fights where there's a shackle or a boss that shows up after the fight engages (like Opera). I usually use it when it's up and/or save it for when I know a boss or ability that might kill me is about to happen (I love deadly boss mods).

It sounds like you had a pretty normal Kara experience. Healing priests (and sometimes even shadow priests! hehe) tend to die a lot. Our health pool and cloth armor just doesn't do much if we pull aggro and the tank can't save us. While we can fade, run to the tank, binding heal, etc, sometimes we just die.

Oh yeah, prayer of mending is freaking awesome thus far. I tossed it down on Nightbane a lot. Before he lands, I mend the tank, and right after he takes off, I do it too. That way the prayer of mending gets bounced around while the skeleton damage goes off, and the cooldown is already up by the time the fifth bounce happens, so I can cast it again. All with no threat to me.

I even went risky once and used holy nova, went fine.

Also, yes, the shadowfiend on Curator worked awesome.

Hehe, now today I get to heal my very first 25-man raid. I'll be in Gruul/Magtheridon. Wish me luck!

Holy "Diver!" Priest
Luck!

High King - ask to be the healer tasked for keeping Mage Tank up. I honestly feel that the Priest is best suited for this task than any other healing class. Shield, PoM, and then Renew on said Mage Tank in that order. I hit him with a Flash Heal as soon as he gets hit, and fire up a Greater Heal after that. Even if the GH will be overheal I let it go anyway - all it takes is the mage to miss one spell steal and the raid wipes. Lots of burst damage on the mage, but if you keep shielding, Renewing when up, and PoMing him along with your GH/FH combo you'll do fine. Midway through my mana pool I'll throw my Shadowfiend on HK so I can regen. Typically I don't run below 50% mana by the time mage tank is done doing his job, but mileage varies. :D

Trash in Gruul's - always straightforward, heal shit, don't f**k up. :D

Gruul - my healing assignment usually is the MT. Just don't let him die. PoM, Renew, and fire up GHs as needed. About Growth 8 I'll throw down a Lightwell.

Mags Trash - Shadow Protection is a must. Fear Ward I think is also needed (disremember atm). Usually the raid loses several raid members on the first group cause people just don't realize how hard they hit with their spells. I'll throw a Renew on everyone getting some kind of damage and FH everyone who's getting damage due to aggro. My MT I'm assigned gets a PoM, Renew, and GHs fired up as needed.

Mags - Last few Mags raids I've done with Leftovers, have only been twice with my usual raiding group Silver Hand Raiders Alliance. With both though I've usually been tasked with a singular MT on a channeler and then cube clicker healing. This first phase is pretty frantic and I'm using my SF and pots before Mags gets released. When Mags is released though, its all crazy easy. The MT takes next to no damage in my experience...its the raid that gets the majority of it all. I don't bother with Lightwell cause everyone's taking damage so much and all the time, its just a mana waste. Renews though are my friend.

I'm not certain how you're geared out but for me aggro isn't that much of an issue - I've got Subtlety on my cloak (-2% threat) and the healing/threat reduction meta gem in my helm. Again, play style and such will vary your mileage. :D Reading through the comments in this thread and in other posts I see there's several varying healing methods. I'm certainly not going to say my method > everyone's elses', but my method I'm more comfortable with.

My main advice is: dont die, and dont let other people die. I cant believe no one else has mentioned this yet.
