Updated info to further clarify about idols and why idol swapping repeatedly during a fight is a bad idea.

Something I learned yesterday that I hadn't known before, since that patch change to ratings the "critical strike rating" aspect of adamantite weightstones -does- transfer over for us in cat form now. Of course, the +weapon damage doesn't, but still that's a nice little bit of crit there | |

Haste is no longer a consideration for most for cat dps. It is now Armor Penetration. Armor Penetration also makes the value of the Everbloom Idol that much more than the Terror Idol for catform. For those that don't like to do arenas, you might want to reconsider. Season 3 feral armor is the best you're going to get until you can hit 4/5 Tier 6. It has the +hit that none of the pve tiered sets have, more melee crit, and armor penetration. Not to mention being loaded with stamina and resilience to be ucritable for those "OH CRAP!" raid moments when you have to emergency tank. --

And, since I believe haste to not be all that worthwhile, I do say exactly that - in several places :-) However, once you get higher up, and have all your +hit you need and a decent amount of armor pen, and ap and crit...haste doesn't hurt things. If the stats you get on something are better than what you have and there is haste on it - certainly no reason to not take the item. I tried out the abacus last night, on a whim. To see how it played out vs the hourglass. However, with drums and the abacus tripped, I was down to .82 swing time. With a base dmg of 311 per auto attack - it boosted my dps pretty nicely. I broke my personal dps record on him with the trinket change. Again, not the best fight for solid statistics - but I was interested in the results. I will have to investigate the proc rate on my hourglass to get a better feel for which is better between the two. But I have to say I was kinda surprised at this result. Everbloom is always better than the Idol of Terror for cat dps. As the math above shows. No matter what your stats. The only time the Idol of Terror would be better for a cat is when they absolutely and completely cannot get behind their target. Arena and pvp gear are great - and I'm totally intending to get the S3 set...however, many do not care to arena or pvp. It's the reason I did not go into gear specifics - simply mechanics - so people can decide what works best for them, given their play style. --

Feral Dr00d! |
Yea still need to get the badges to replace my idol of terror. I got it before this was posted so I wasn't sure on dps lol. Will keep it for soloing and tanking when I switch back to feral. PS Wish I had the attention span to find gear and plug it into the formuals lol.... --

http://www.gurgleblaster.net/emmerald/ is a great source of gear comparisons, as well as all the stats. Think of it like shadowpanther is for rogues. --

Not really... Emmerald, unfortunately, does not have a lot of the gear from 2.3 Prior to 2.3, I would have agreed with you, and did use the site for quite a while. However, it is now sadly out of date. Currently, RAWR is one of the better options for tanking comparisons. And, it does offer the ability to compare for cats, too. For DPS comparisons, Toskk's is the one I prefer, though. I disagree with some of his assessments; but, that's just due to personal preference and how his calculations always assume Mangle is being used by the cat in question. I've requested he give an option for not having mangle as one of your specials being used (for those instances where you aren't the only feral, etc)...but it has still not manifested. I don't know that it ever will, but it would be nice :-) There is an in game addon called Rating Buster that is ok. Though Rating Buster is a little off since it doesn't compute bonuses correctly sometimes, etc so you need to pay attention to what it's really computing and not just look for red/green numbers ;-) --

Though Rating Buster is a little off since it doesn't compute pure AP bonuses sometimes, etc. Gah... I thought it had been updated with 2.3. I know there's an online one that has been updated, since that's what my husband has been using. I'll get it from him later on tonight. But this thread needed SOME link to a gear comparison sheet. --

I can put the comparison information on the first post for ease of access. Edit: Ah!! Emmerald has updated....the site you linked to is the old one New one: http://www.emmerald.net/ It does have the 2.3 gear in it. Many happy times ahead. I appreciate Emmerald's gear lists, it's good to have them back. --

Rather than including gear comparison. I'm glad you were able to find the new one, I couldn't remember anything but a few of the phrases from the headers. Which of course found the old one first. --
