I need some advice on a good pure resto build, as well as a hybrid resto/elemental build (to ranged DPS on trash/easy bosses, but have good healing for tougher fights). This is kind of a one-time thing, as I'll be helping the last half of a KZ run, and I may not be needed to heal for 100% of the instance. --

The only resto build I find useful is 0/5/56. Some people argue that the 5 points in Enhancement isn't worth it but I value a good mana pool, even if its just a extra 500 mana. Here's my talent tree if it helps any... http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Silver+Hand&n=Jauggernaut I can't really help ya with a hybrid build because I'm not sure if there are any good ones and if there are I've never tried them. :/ |

I can agree 100% with the mana pool thing. A little extra never hurt no one. I'll check it out when I get home.

I went and modified your build a bit. I took improved reincarnate instead of the armor bonus on healing crit talent. That's about the only change, I think.

One note: There's a number of talents in Resto that do nice things for your Elemental abilities, as well. Getting any decent amount of extra dps out of Ele requires a fairly sizable point investment, IMO - but the ten points in Convection/Concussion are pretty nice. Note that since shocks are very mana intensive, you will want to build the dps portion of this around enhancing LB as much as you can, since it's your bread-and-butter as Ele. Also, keep a rank 1 ES and a rank 1 FS in easy range for interrupts and slows, respectively. --

Crap, I specced resto and parked myself in Duskwood before I saw this post. I'll need to check out a hybrid elem/resto build later to see the possibilities. Thanks for the advice Szi. :)

My shaman is built specifically for elemental PvE DPS... She is 41/0/20 with the main focus being (obviously) lightning bolt/chain lightning/MINIMAL shocks. (I'm specced very similar to Vasilisa with only a few minor changes here and there) The good thing about elemental shamans is because of their gear, they are very versatile for instantly switching to spot heals if needed (if you're feeling particularly frisky, you can keep a heal-specific totem in your bags and switch out of your DPS one to the healy one if stuff looks bad). I have 3 totems on my shaman, 1 is her basic DPS one, and she has the chain heal (Maiden) and the healing wave one (Heroic Slave Pens) that I can switch into. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?5503011500021335105100000000000000000000050005311005000000000 |

Mondaris has it pretty solid with the resto build. When I raid heal, I use that build. For Hybridy Healing/DPSing...eh...I'd say something like (note, I threw this together in 5 seconds) http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=hE0kVc0RZZxfczqeotc Esspecially for stuff like KZ. You don't *need* earth shield, and that would give you nice spell damage, some extra regen, good crit rates and such. Your primary problem with that build is lack of +spell hit and long cast times. In 2.3, the cast time will only be 2.5 / 2.0 for LB/CL with that spec so its a lot more tolerable. The spell hit thing would have to be remedied by gear. However, if your only DPSing on Trash, you won't need more than ~3% more hit so it won't be a problem. If your going to do that on bosses..well...you need a lot more, I'd stick to healing on bosses with that spec. --
