I have tried some of these out and have not tried others (mainly any of the enhance ones) I'll throw them into categories. These are all the ones I have seen that seem Viable. PvP Only Specs Resto http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?05030000000000000000500000000000000000000550300510550 I have used this in 2v2 with good success, but it doesn't help with PvE raiding or instancing at all. Made for quick heals and survivability. Enhance (2Hander+big heals) http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?0000000000000000000050050021550013050010055030351005010000000 Haven't tried this, but hear it is great for PvP. Hard hitting and can pop out Nice big heals if you're in trouble. Elemental http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?5503014500021005135000000000000000000000055000050005010000000 Typical Elemental build with enough in resto for Nature's Swiftness. Built on a fast Kill model, not for duration as there is not mana Regen. (slight alter I used to use was Eye of the storm over Elemental sheilds) PvP/PvE hybrid Resto This is what I currently use, and suits me well enough, as you get better PvP gear with more stam the talents I loose out on from Elemental are overcome. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?0000000000000000000050000000000000000000055030051355313515321 This gets you nice big Crit heals in PvP and the sustainability and raid heals for instancing. Enhancement Dual wielding isn't the fastest DPS in PvP, and cannot take down clothies in 1 hit like 2Handing can, but still can lock players up, but with a decent crit rate you will always be flurrying and windfury will proc every 3 secs. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?0000000000000000000050250300150013053110055030351000013000000 This is just one of the various variations of this spec, sometimes people take more dodge over better lightning sheild. Elemental- same as the PvP spec, just depends whether you value Nature's swiftness or Totem of wrath more, personally NS is FAR superiour if you want to do PvP at all. PvE Resto All points to resto cept the 5 for more mana. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?0000000000000000000050000000000000000000055030051355313515321 Good for Raids and Heroics+ other 5 mans. Enhancement http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?5500005000300000000050050020350213053115100000000000000000000 A shock and hit Build. DPS only, good for supporting Melee/physical groups. Elemental http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?5500011503021535105150000000000000000000055000001000000000000 Strait forward Lightingchucker build. Totem of wrath is unparalelled in crit based magic groups, and paired with an Oomkin this shammy can Greatly help a parties DPS. Note on these: I only grabbed the main templates of specs, that are ussually designed on support, as I personally feel that more selfish specs don;t belong in raiding, yes they may afford you 2% extra crit and have it totem free, but they don;t benifit the raid/party, which our class is desinged around doing. Hope these help for Ideas. Post your templates! --

I tried out a couple of different specs when I got to 70 but my main is a priest so I didn't want another healer and I find elemental to be to boring. I tried out several different specs for enhancement PVE and here's my findings. The only thing I've found not helpful that was in ur enhancement spec was Elemental Devastation. With little to no increase in spell crits other then the meager talents it wasn't crit'ing often enough to offset just having Mental Quickness in place of it. My current RAID spec. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html?5500000000000000000050050001555213353115100000000000000000000 I'm gonna just go down the enhancement tree and do a review of the talents. Going to give each talent a * rating (5 stars best, 1 worst) based on how I feel it is useless for a deep enhancement shaman. Ancestral Knowledge: ***** While 10% mana isn't that much is considerably more useful then extra block rating for deep melee shaman. Shield Specialization: * Useless all around imo. Guardian Totems: ** While it seems like it could be nice its not very often I'm using the totems it buffs. The buff it does to grounding is rather useless as 90% of spells do an initial dmg which kills the totem anywayz. Thundering Strikes: ***** Increased crit. Hello amazing. Improved Ghost Wolf: *** Amazing? No, but very helpful in a lot of non raid situations. If I have a few extra pts I always try to get this. Improved Lightning Shield: ** I love water shield. Area Effect spells on bosses just help to regenerate my mana so that I can do more dmg. Imp. Light. Shield is nice pvp, thats about it. Enhancing Totems: **** Very good, increases your dps and most likely someone elses. The problem I find is that the str is usually just effecting me as I hardly ever have agi out due to using WF for the other melee DPS. Two-Handed Axes/Maces: * Great while I'm leveling up. Great while I'm pvp'ing. Dmg is considerably subpar when I'm raiding compared to dual wield. (NOTE: This will be replaced in 2.3, I'll update it then.) Anticipation: *** Another great solo'ing bonus and semi useful in raids. I use it as a filler talent if I'm needing something deeper. Flurry: ***** Attack speed increase. Good? No, Great. Toughness: *** Another well rounded talent that I use as filler if need be. Not all that useful in raiding as if I get hit most mobs are going to destroy me anywayz. Especially if that mob is a boss. Improved Weapon Totems: *** Personally I hate this talent. I feel its a total waste. Problem is the rest of the melee DPS can get huge benefits from WF totem. If I didn't get this I would put the pts into enhancing totems instead. Spirit Weapons: ***** Parry chance is nice and the slightly decreased aggro from normal melee is nice. The only reason its vital is due to requirement for dual wield. The decreased aggro doesn't effect WF hits, Flametongue htis, or my shocks. Elemental Weapons: ***** Required for Stormstrike. Also increases the dmg from my weapon enhancement spells. A very well rounded talent and a must. Mental Quickness: **** (*****) I find this talent to be super helpful. Decreasing the cost of my shocks as well as my totems increases my number of total shocks and stormstrikes. Its a DPS increaser. Once 2.3 increases this to where it gives you spell dmg equal to 30% of your AP it will be a must have. Weapon Mastery: ***** 10% dmg increase... seems good. Dual Wield Specialization: ***** Your going to have dual wield so your going to increase its dmg. Dual Wield: ***** The best dps for a melee shaman. A two handed weapon can rule all the pvp it wants to but when u get down to the nitty gritty pve this is the way to do the REAL dmg. Stormstrike: ***** Instant attack that can proc any weapon buff u have plus it doesn't fuck w/your normal attacks. Unleashed Rage: ***** With dual wield and 15% crit this will almost always be up. With 20% crit it will always be up. No reason you shouldn't increase your dps PLUS your groups. Shamanistic Rage: ***** Read shaman innervate. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Weapon Buffs: While I have been unable to test two slow weapons using Windfury that is what I would prefer. Slow MH and slow OH both with Windfury as the slow hits would help to offset the 3sec CD on WF. With my current weapons though (Slow MH / Fast OH) I run with WF main and Flametongue(FT) OH. With the changes in 2.3 to mental quickness I'm pretty sure that this will be the best way to go. Flametongue benefits from the fastest weapon u can get and the increased spell dmg from a huge AP pool will make for some dramatic bonus dmg. Xeonio Phobic Spoils of War --

I'd love to see any updates to this after some time with patch 2.3/4. I'm leveling enh, and hope to go back to it after doing my healer stint. Unless Redfang reads this, then I'm very much looking forward to healing forever and ever. Green bars FTW. --

He who holds the big stick of boss-ouchy |
From Plindone, my resto shammy: For PvE healing: I actually went and reduced totem cost by a bit instead of taking the full mana from enhancement... and less on the save me talent. This doesn't hurt the raid in any way, and actually benefits your raid with more mana for you for healing. Here's the reason why: Most boss fights are extended encounters... so having the extra mana helps, but having your totems cost less mana actually helps you conserve that mana pool throughout the fight. Thus with a bit of theorycrafting I settled on a 5 point reduction in totem cost, and 3 points for more mana. This gives me the larger mana pool, and reduced my totem costs to help with sustaining my mana during totem renews in a boss fight. I think it's a pretty good strategy to help with a shaman's mana throughout a boss fight, when combined with mana tide you should be set. Basically with the 3 points in mana those 5 points in totems will end up (for most groups) saving you more mana in a boss fight than you will lose (and your goal is not get hit anyway...) This is especially true since the cost of totems can easily be near 1000 mana without the talent, and a 2% increase in mana will most likely not get you several thousand mana at level 70. You could of course alter this to include more than 2 points in the when hit to <30% self preservation effect... if you want... but most bosses are going to 1-2 shot you anyway. Personally 2 points helps with the mobs, and if you are healing yourself someone should tank off you in a raid... so regular mobs should theoretically not be an issue (although on occasion........) --
Ever felt like you in a game of whack-a-mole. Yeah, I get that OUCH! feeling. It's like you keep OUCH! getting hit with OUCH! hammers! |

Demonwright Tribalsun Tribalmoon |
I'm not sure where you got your information from... You're missing some vital talents for each of the specs. PVP and PVE isn't terribly different for a shaman. My current spec for Tribalsun is one of the best end-game pve specs around... it IS cookie cutter but *shrugs* cookie cutters are cookie cutters because they work :P I chose this particular spec because imp ghost wolf was a brilliant addition to HS/BT encounters. I mention this because it's the only reason I also took the mana talent. On that same token, imp ghost wolf is almost an requirement for arenas. It's especially useful in chasing down druids and FSing the crap out of them / killing them / etc. It's also naturally useful for BGs. Oh, did I mention it's just nice to have for out in the real world, too? If you're going to PVP resto, though, imp shield block defeats extra mana every time. Just as a note to PVE restoizing: Putting all your talents into Resto will improve your effectiveness far greater than putting 5 points into the enhancement mana talent. Raiding full resto is *really* nice *and* it gives you what you need to effectively pvp, too. You really don't *need* the "cookie cutter" until you get to SSC/TK, nonetheless, it's nice to have. My Resource: http://elitistjerks.com/f47/t24796-shaman_restoration/ http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t19181-shaman_how_heal_like_pro/ Shamanistic rage, too, is one of a PVE shaman's best weapons. I don't know a successful enhancer that doesn't use this talent often and without prejudice. The 30% reduction in damage is also fairly amazing for PVP. I've switched up my shaman for my druid in pvp and my druid, like priests, have to wait and hope that the damage reduction talent kicks in. Shaman get to push a button when *they* want to. I'll also mention that my resto druid recently killed a 2-hander mace enhancer in Arena a few weeks ago... No one should ever take our two-hander power for granted... that said, it's very up to chance and very bursty. Even with my resilience (over 300) duel-wielding, undergeared enhancement shaman simply chew through me without issue. It's really a matter of loading up my hots and PRAYING that my partner kills him or her before my hots run out. My resource: http://elitistjerks.com/f47/t20765-shaman_enhancement/ http://elitistjerks.com/f47/t15596-melee_combat_mechanics/ I'm juI've never done elemental PVP. I have done elemental PVE... it's just not for me :P I have a boomlock if I feel the need to cast something glowy. Some Resource: http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t16947-shaman_one_stop_elemental_shop/ Was moved to -> http://elitistjerks.com/f47/t20914-shaman_elemental/ Elitist Jerks has *great* pages for specs and reasons-to-spec. They even have my build :P You might want to take a look at some of the numbers they post and you'll see where most of my opinion stems from. As an aside, I plugged some of their numbers into the SPSS machine at work and most things check out. There was some variation, but what stats don't have variation!? :P Good luck! --
