I am enduring the 5000 person queue to get on the test realm. currently 2500 people in front of me  Since homework is out of the question, I've been making a list of spec to try while I wait. I will make comments about the following as I get to test them: 14/13/24 Goal: Nice bit of utility for healing from disc/holy while retaining most (missing darkness) of the non-shadowform damage talents from shadow. Experiences: 33/18 Goal: The "lol, smite" build. Essentially, tries to be a damage-oriented build with good healing talents, but no shadow. Experiences: 31/0/20 Goal: Variant on the theme, but goes for shadow damage instead. Experiences: 21/30/0 Goal: Healbot build. IMO, lightwell sucks, and this looks like the best build for straight-up healing. (though I'm disappointed that you can't max those talents at the end of holy w/o spending more that 30 points...) Experiences: 14/26/11 Goal: Spirit BOMB build. Basically, spirit gives you: mana/5 seconds (meditation), +damage/heal (spiritual guidance), and DOUBLES when you land a killing blow! (mind flay makes this easy... in pvp anyway) Experiences: Now, to get cracking... several hours later... position 24 in queue

LOL, Smite was actually a fun build pre-1.10. Now that a lot of the smite-affecting talents affect healing too, it will be very feasible. | |

Wheeee. Alterac valley Qs are instant! Wish I could spec that. anyway. Within about 2 minutes I had written my "cast talisman of ephemiral power and PI at once" macro. And smites were hitting for more than mind blast for that amount of +dmg, for only .5 more cast time, less mana, and no cooldown. (well... PI has a 3 minute cooldown... k) (1329 smite crit! and this was wearing devout... though had epics for all other slots and talisman of ephemeral power...) Holy fire is actually... good. no cooldown anymore. Holy Nova blows hard core. I pressed my macro and tried to AE and... yeah right. pathetic damage, huge mana cost so I couldn't keep going very long. And, I don't have blink so it's HARD to get into the enemy lines to AoE. OTOH, it has no aggro, and is an AE spell. I think it's usefull still for: flag AE, threatless heals, finding rogues, core hound packs! ;-p The area of effect of the res on those battlegrounds ressers is much lower... hrmmm.... +heal sucks for making big heals. it lets you go for lower ranks to get better efficiency, yes, but for getting BIG heals it sucks. I ToEP and ghealed expecting something nice and got... what it said it would do... a little less than +175 healing. I PI'd and ghealed and got... sexy big heals. I got bored with the AV zerg here so went to an ALL PRIEST WSG. We won. Not due to horde being any good, though. Anethma was a useless staff for this damage build. Benediction was better, simply from the crit. I popped my cooldowns and 2 shotted this rogue carrying the flag > Save your tokens for battlegrounds they trippled the rep from turning em in. anyway. I like this spec a lot

Well.... my "OMGPEWPEWPEW" side says YES, but my sensible, level headed healer side says no. It's so inefficient that it'd be basically useless in PVE unless you're just wanting to have fun (on core hound packs or something), but probably is kinda useful in PVP... I dunno. I wasn't impressed. Spirit of Redemption, however... is the shit. Thing is, I haven't had it for long, so I forget until about 5 seconds in that OH! I CAN HEAL!! --
