Raiding Leftovers Information

Intro To LO

Welcome to Leftovers! We are an open raiding community with multiple groups (called Charters) breaking open WoW raid content including multiple Gruul, Magtheridon, SSC and TK runs, as well as KZ and ZA. As a new raider, you will be gearing up, getting to know the great people from all the Charters, and helping groups take down new content (we encourage people to sign up liberally to the many runs--the system will prevent you from being locked out). Join the community, see the world, kill the bosses!

We welcome good, fun people of all stripes, classes and gear levels. If you haven't raided yet you'll probably want to sign up for the Karazhan raids. If you are a long time raider new to LO, you'll probably want to sign up for Gruul /SSC/TK runs, depending on your gear and skill level. There's no real "initiation process" to go through, though you may be asked to clean the bathroom with a toothbrush during rush week.

Signing Up

There is no approval required to sign up, you can do it right now! If this is your first week, it's a four step process:

- Register for the site. To register for the site, go to the "Register" button on the top right of this page and follow the instructions.
- Register your characters. Enter your characters, what classes they are, etc. You can do this by clicking on the "My Characters" link on the left after you log in.
- Find raids you want to go on. There are tons of raids on the raid calendar (click the Raids button at the top) on all days of the week going to lots of different places. If you don't know what instance to sign up for, you probably should start with KZ (and maybe Gruul). The later instances need a lot of gear. Unless you're 100% sure that you only want to run with a certain Charter, you're encouraged to sign up for many Charters.
- Sign up for raids. Signing up for lots of raids is as easy as 1-2-3!
  • 1. Click "Sign Up For Raids" on the top left of the Raid Calendar.
  • 2. Select Raids. Click the checkboxes next to the raids you want to sign up for and click the "Signup" button. Click as many raids as you want, even if it's the same instance and multiple groups. The system will make sure you don't get slotted to conflicting raids, and the Charter Leads will work out where best to put you.
  • 3. Confirm Characters. Select which Characters you want to sign up to the raids, add any notes you need the slotter to know about (such as "30 mins late") and click "Quick Signup."

- Say Hello! Let the community and the Charter Leads know who you are! Post on the general forums in the LO site, and PM the Charter Leads of the raids you sign up for to let them know about you, what you're good at and interested in, etc. (there's a link at the top of the roster for that raid).

You have the best chance of being slotted if you sign up for runs with multiple groups; you never know which group will need you the most on a given week. Don't worry about lockouts; the system and the Charter Leads will make sure you don't get put into conflicting raids. Just sign up and come along for the ride :)

Don't be discouraged if there's already a lot of signups for a group; sign up anyway! Many groups like to try and slot newcomers when they come, to give them a friendly start, and your class may be needed anyway.

Getting Involved

There are several ways to get involved in the LO community.

- Post a note in the General Forums on the site here! Click the Forums button, and General is right there.
- "/join leftovers" ingame. Everyone is invited. This channel is used for LFM/LFG, "raid is full" and "hay guys need more for KZ" announcements, getting-to-know-you and technical WOW discussions, among other things.
- Run some instances with us!

At Raid Time

Once you've signed up, check the Raid Calendar every so often to see if you're slotted. If you're logged in, the Raid Calendar will highlight raids you've been slotted in with a deep green. A lighter green is used for raids you've signed up for or have been marked Standby. You can also click on the raids you're interested to look at the roster and see if you're slotted.

If you're slotted, you are expected to:
- Show up early and let the raid lead know you're there
- Be at the instance.
- Be fully repaired.
- Have all the consumables (oils, flasks, food) requested by your raid lead (most 25-man Charters require you to have oils, flasks/elixirs and food).
- Install Teamspeak and Ventrilo (some Charters use one, and some use the other, currently).
- Install the needed addons and keep them up to date. These addons are generally not optional:
  • Boss mod: BigWigs or DeadlyBossMods.
  • Raid mod: oRA2 or CTRaidTracker.
  • Threat meter: Omen/Threat-1.0. KTM is acceptable but Omen is preferred.
  • The author recommends installing wowaceupdater and using that to get Omen, Threat-1.0, oRA2 and BigWigs. That way, you can keep them all up to date by just re-running the updater--it will check for new versions and download them.

People who aren't ready on time waste everyone's time and are frowned upon. We need to pull as close to raid beginning as possible in order to get the raid moving. If you aren't there at raid start time, whether you are 2 minutes late or 20 minutes late, many Charters will replace you immediately and you will probably not be able to get back in. If you have an issue getting there or will be late, either enter that fact in the notes on your signup or PM the Charter Lead and let someone know. As long as they know, generally they will work something out, wait for you, or start without you and invite when you get there.

If you're on Standby, please show up a bit ahead of time and send a whisper to the raid leads of the raid you're on (marked with an "L" in the raid roster). They will pull you in if your class is needed. Even if you don't get in, Charter Leads really notice when you do this and will remember your name next time they slot.

Points

Leftovers uses a points system to reward attendance and award loot. It's not really something worth a ton of thought unless you enjoy math theory, though. For your first raid, just roll Standard for pieces you want and come along for the ride. So much loot gets given out to newbies that we have a phrase you may hear: "Welcome to LO, here's your purples."

For future reference, here's the basics of points. You earn points for time spent (1 per half hour), and extra points for being there at scheduled raid start and raid end. When loot drops, you may spend points three ways:

- Shroud: "I really, really want this." You pay 1/2 your points. If several people really, really want the item, the one with the most points wins. You may only roll this if you have more than 10 points (about what you earn in one 4 hour raid).
- Standard: "I want this, but if someone else really, really wants it, give it to them." You pay only 10 points and take your chances by rolling off /random 100 against everyone else who rolled Standard, whether they have more points than you not. Shroud trumps Standard. This means that a Shrouder with 20 points will beat a Standard roller who has 100 points.
- Save: "I don't want it really, but I'd save it from DE." 10 points as well.

Welcome again! We hope you'll have many happy raids with us.

If you have questions or concerns, please PM the Leads (there is a link at the bottom of this page.) or mail them ingame.
