Charter Raiding

Overview:

After long consideration, we, the leads of The Leftovers, have determined that with the changes coming in high end raiding with TBC that a significant change in the overall structure of high end raiding is in order.

Our overall desire is to return to our successful roots, open signup raiding, run with a minimum of administrative overhead.

With the potential offered with a simpler loot system, multiple raiding instances, and the prospect of some very exciting and versatile slotting software, we intend to move to a system of chartered raiding.

Charter raiding groups will be run along the lines of the existing 20 man groups such as Pirates, Ninjas, and Easterners with the addition of being "sanctioned" raid by LO. This means they will be official raids using LOP and other LO guildlines.

Each group will be formed by a sponsor/s that will be leading said raids. These raid leads will be responsible for slotting, rosters, and point entry. Each individual raid run under charter must have at least one of these leads present.

Charter Raiding instances: MC, BWL, AQ40, Naxx. More will be added as Blizzard adds the instances.
Noncharter Raiding Instances: AQ20, ZG, and BRS.

How to form a Charter Group:

1) Charter Raid leads must submit an official raid charter (see example below). The charter must contain raid objectives, number of raiders, how often raids will be held, what days the raids will be, and a list of raid leads or officers.

2) Once the charter is submited to the LO Leads it will be reviewed and either approved or denied. If it is denied an explanation will be given.

Some things that will be concidered when the leads are looking at a new charter:
- What is the benefit of this group vs another group running the instance already? What is unique about them that would allow them to exist in comparison with other groups?
- Is the group Charter sane and workable?
- Will the proposed leadership work well with the other Charter Leads?

3) Once the charter is accepted, the raid leads will be given access to the Charter Leads forum, which replaces the current Group Leads forum.

4) All charter approved leads must become LOP entry trained within a week of charter approval and before their first official chartered raid.

5) The raid leads are solely responsible for the success or failure of each group. If a charter group is seen to be failing due to leadership issues the charter may be revoked.

6) Unless specifically exempted, 4 leads must be listed in the charter application. One of those leads must be present on any raids run by this charter.

The benifits to Charter Groups:

1) Massive reduction in LO leadership overhead. This system will eliminate the nessesity of subleads.

2) Reduction in total overall workload for all leads.

3) It will remove the tenure mindset on raiders that we have seen develop in the ST system. Competition for slotting will promote( hopefully) more successful raid groups.

4) It allows ST folk to stay together if that is what they want. It also allows flexibility to move between groups if a raider is not happy with the way raids are run or the preformance of a raid group.

Non-Chartered Raids:
LO will continue to have it's longstanding and popular PvE forum, used to coordinate raids and activities to Non-Charter Instances. Non-Charter Instances refers to such early instances as UBRS and BRD, as well as later raids like AQ20 and ZG. With the expansion, we expect this list to increase to encompass many of the new smaller raid instances of Burning Crusade.

Any raider or group that wishes to form a raid to a Charter Instance (Being MC, BWL, Naxx, etc.), but does not wish to gain a charter for them, we request that you do not use the LO boards to coordinate your raids.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Example Charter:

Charter Raid Name: String Cheese
Instances planned on being ran: Naxx, AQ40
Number of days raiding: 3 days- 1 Weekday(to be determined) 2 weekend days (Saturday and Sunday)
Loot Type: LOP3
Raid Leads: Toraga, Daphyd, Mr Bigglesworth, Spaceghost

Raid make up: It is the goal of String Cheese to achieve a balenced raid of 40 members to raid in Naxx and AQ40.
Tank Types: 7
Healer Types: 15
DPS (Melee): 8
DPS (caster): 10

Gear requirement: At least 5/8 T2 or equivilent.
Consumables: ie Flasks, Mana/health pots, Stoneshield, Mongoose, and poisons.
Hours raided: Weekday 6-10, Weekend 3-10 with the possiblility of going longer.

String Cheese is looking to be a highend raiding group that will focus on and beat new content. We want to push the envelope as a exploritory group. If you wish to raid with String cheese you can expect to have higher than average repair bills and use consumables.

Slotting will be done on the following basis:
1) Attitude
2) Gear and Experience
3) Attendence
